Notebook cant see my 30 giga hdd

i assume the armada is a compaq product? if so, you may want to read your installation documentation- hdd may have jumpers, or spacers that need to be re-located! if it's not a compaq 'compliant' product, then good luck! compaq hardware is very 'proprietary'! meaning, if our laptop don't like it, then it don't work!! i've tried compaq ram on a toshiba- slotted right in! no prob. 'til i booted! didn't like it! seems very unfriendly to me! if your hdd 'kit' is supposedly compatible with your laptop, then, as i stated- check dox for jumper, or spacer settings. remove hdd and check for bent pins!! if there are any, very, very carefully- using fine tweezers- straighten them until they socket properly!
break one of and you're s.o.l.!
you may have a friend with the proper tools, and a steady hand who could assist, it there's a bent pin!
the hdd can appear to seat properly, but still have a bent pin. check any jumper/spacer settings first! also compatibility with your armada!
good luck!

Don't have password for a compaq armada 1750.

Professional help may be needed here--there are tools that are on the web that can help, but for the sake of "cant circumvent protection on pass worded devices", Google it.

Accessing bios

Some Compaq's actually have a partition on the hard drive for the BIOS. If someone

Startup Problem

On the 1750 the setup bios settings are held on the hard drive, if you cant get any further I would suggest the drive is dead.

Boot up with no operating system

When the system starts, hold the F10 key and go into BIOS and set CD Rom as 1st Boot device (in Boot Order). Because most Compaq's would put the BIOS in a hidden NON-DOS partition on the hard drive, you may have to get an OEM recovery disk for that model. Because there is no BIOS to go to, the machine doesn't know it has a CD, HD or Floppy to go to. A boot floppy/CD is no help. Alternative 1: With another desktop and IDE to Laptop HD connector, FDISK (make active partition and hidden partition [5mb]), Format both, copy the cabs from WinME CD to c:\windows\options. Alternative 2: Find the COMPAQ OEM CD for that model. Since there was no exact model number Click here Please indicate whether this is helpful or not.
