Keep getting paper jam error with my hp 1610 al in one printer there is no paper jammed in the printer

If your printer has a paper tray, do not fill the tray. Overfilling the paper tray is frequently causes paper jams. Many printers have sliding mechanisms that allow different types and sizes of paper to be fed into the printer. If the slider is not correctly positioned, it can cause a paper jam.

Paper jam printer 3524

Clear the jammed paper as follows.

If the jammed paper is removed completely by using the information in the following steps, you can install the paper tray first, and then close the front cover and the printer will resume printing automatically.

If the printer does not start printing automatically, press the Go button. If the printer still does not start printing, please check that all the remaining jammed paper has been removed from the printer. Then try printing again.

Pull the paper tray completely out of the printer.

Pull the jammed paper up and out of the printer.

Press the cover release button and then open the front cover.

Pull out the drum unit assembly. Pull the jammed paper up and out of the printer. If you cannot remove the drum unit assembly easily at this time, do not use extra force. Instead, pull the edge of the jammed paper from the paper tray. If the jammed paper can not be pulled out easily, turn the jam dial towards you as you gently pull the paper out.

Open the face-up output tray. Pull the jammed paper out of the fuser unit. If the paper jam can be cleared, go to Step 7.

Open the jam clear cover. Pull the jammed paper out of the fuser unit.

Close the jam clear cover. Close the face-up output tray. If the paper jam still cannot be cleared, for HL-5130 and HL-5140 users go to Step 10, and for all other users go to the next step.

Pull the Duplex Tray completly out of the printer.

Pull the jammed paper out of the printer or the Duplex tray. Put the Duplex tray back into the printer.

Push the lock lever down and take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit assembly. Take out the jammed paper if there is any inside the drum unit.
Put the toner cartridge into the drum unit until you hear it lock into place. If you put it in properly, the lock lever will lift automatically.

My Canon Pixma MP600R insists that paper is jamed in machine, despite the fact that jam has been cleared and paper is being ejected when machine is switched on

The simplest thing would be to try unplugging the printer from the power source. Let it rest for 5 - 10 minutes then plug back in to the power supply and see if that resolves the problem.

If not you are going to need to do a thorugh inspection to verify that all paper remnants have been removed.

The following is for the MP600:

Clearing credit card-sized paper jammed inside the printer
Credit card-sized and 4" x 6" sized paper must be loaded properly. If this media is not loaded properly, it will feed into the printer and will not exit. Credit card-sized paper should only be loaded in the ASF and in portrait orientation. 4" x 6" sized paper can be loaded in the ASF or cassette. But must be loaded portrait orientation.
If credit card-sized paper was loaded in landscape orientation in the ASF and did not eject (exit), please follow this procedure.

  2. Load the same paper type that is jammed inside the printer in portrait orientation.

Says I have a paper jam, but can not find any paper in the machine

Hi, If you have ever operated a printer, you have experienced a paper jam. At some point, some piece of paper has loaded off-kilter or wadded up inside the rollers. In most cases, removing the jammed paper and getting the printer working again is relatively easy.

Step By Step

1. Verify that you have a paper jam. Sometimes the printer will send you a message that there's a paper jam. Sometimes you get the message from the crinkling, squealing sound the printer makes as it jams.

2. For most consumer models there will be only one sheet of paper threading through the machine at a time and a straightforward path from the paper feed to the output tray. In that case, you will want to search visually. Look to see if there are pieces of paper sticking out where you can see them. For larger commercial printers, where the paper path is more convoluted, you will need to consult the paper jam status message for hints of where to look.

3. Remove any paper from the paper trays that you suspect might have caused the paper jam. If a sheath of paper might prevent you from getting at the jammed paper, then remove that too.

4. Most consumer printers have an access door in the front that you can open to get at the jammed paper. With laser printers there's usually a toner and drum unit that slides out for improved access. If you still can't see the jammed paper, check if there's an access hatch in the back of the printer.

5. Gently remove any crumpled paper you might find. Gently tug on any pieces of paper that may be stuck or crumpled between rollers. It's possible that yanking the paper too hard in the direction opposite the normal direction of travel could wreck the printer rotors or some other delicate part. Whenever possible, pull the jammed paper in the direction of normal motion through the printer and avoid using excessive force.

6. Avoid ripping the paper as you remove the jam. Pull the paper slowly with both hands. Any shredded piece of paper stuck in the rollers will cause yet another paper jam. While you're at it, check for foreign objects that may have caused the paper jam in the first place, such as a paperclip or a pen cap.

7. Laser printers sometimes get the paper jammed so deep in the fuser unit that you can't reach it with your fingers. In those cases you want to avoid poking at the paper with sharp metal objects. Scratching the rollers could permanently damage your print quality. Removing an accordioned paper jam may involve disassembly of the fuser unit by a trained professional.

IBM 1332 printer error #241 Paper jam

Fixing a printer paper jam
When working with any printer it's inevitable that you'll encounter a paper jam. Below are the steps you'll want to follow when this occurs.

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Inspect the location or tray the printed paper ejects to. If the stuck paper is visible manually remove it.*
  3. Remove all paper trays and any paper that may be stuck between the tray and the printer. If the stuck paper is visible manually remove it.*
  4. Open the printer door that allows you access to the printer ink cartridges or toner and look for any stuck paper. If the stuck paper is visible manually remove it.*
  5. Turn the printer back on. If you continue to receive a printer jam error try repeating the above steps again. If issue still persist and you see no paper that is stuck in the printer it's likely your printer is experiencing another hardware issues and we suggest contacting the printer manufacturer for additional assistance and/or repair.

* To manually remove paper pull on the paper with both hands being careful not to tear the paper while pulling it. If you're unable to get to an edge of the paper that allows you to pull it you may need to manually rotate the gears that feed the paper through the printer.

Preventing a printer paper jam
As mentioned earlier it is inevitable that you will encounter at least one paper jam during the life of your printer. However, if you're encountering frequent paper jams following the below steps can help prevent paper jams from occurring.

  • If your printer has a paper tray do not fill the tray to capacity. If you're encountering frequent paper jams reduce the amount of paper you place in the tray each time it is filled.
  • Make sure you or the tray feeding the paper into the printer is aligned properly and/or the slider used to hold the paper in place in the tray is snug with the paper. Many printers have sliders that allow different types and sizes of paper to be fed into the printer. If the slider is not properly positioned it can cause paper jams.
  • Use standard office paper; folded paper, paper with labels, and specialty paper such as hard bound paper can often cause paper jams. If you're uncertain with what type of paper you should use with your printer your printer documentation will list the types of paper compatible with your printer.
  • Do not mix the types of paper you're feeding into the printer at one time. If you need to change the type of paper or size of paper being used removed any other paper currently in the printer before inserting the new paper.
  • Examine the printer for any previous stuck paper in the printer. Previous paper jams, torn paper, printing labels or other foreign objects in the printer can cause reoccurring printer jams.

How do i fix a paper jam on my printer?

One of the more common problems with printers as it relates to paper jams, is that the paper stacked in the tray hasn't been fanned. What I mean is, it's like holding a paper-back book in your hand and skimming quickly through the pages with your thumb as your other hand holds it at the spine. Try this as a remedy if your printer jams often.

Hope this helps. :)
