My brand new Moen faucet gives almost no hot water in any position. The best I get is luke warm. I completely removed the nylon anti-scald ring and still the same. I pulled the center of the valve and flushed it. I do get equal amounts of hot and cold water. If I put the internal part back in upside down, I get more hot than cold and I can shower. What is wrong?

Without seeing your unit, I am guessing that you have a pos-temp faucet. I would need to know for sure, because there may be a different problem if it is a moentrol. It may sound dumb, but some moen rough-in valves have shut-off screws on them. Have you checked to make sure these screws are both open fully? It sounds like you have gone through the proper troubleshooting, so if the shut-offs are both fully open, you may just have a bad cartridge. I have had them from time to time come from the manufacturer defective. If it is a moentrol valve, it may be a bad pressure balancing spool. In any case, contact moen about your issue and they will be able to give you step by step technical assistance. They will need the model of your faucet, so I would have that handy before calling.

If you soldered the valve together with the cartridge still inside you may have over heated the plastic and warped something. The balancing spool sounds like it is stuck.

Moen water flow restricted and only warm

Not sure about your particular valve, but most newer shower valves have an anti-scald limiter that stops the handle from turning too far to the hot water side. Check for a ring or a pin under the handle that can be set in different positions. It will need to be moved clockwise to allow the handle to rotate farther to hot.

Hope that helps. If you have trouble finding it, try looking up a diagram for the valve model.

My taps are new. When the handle is turned full hot , the water is only tepid. I think the anti scald feature is letting too much cold water pass. Please advise

there is a splined adjustment just under the handle of the 3175.

you need to remove the handle, usually held on with an allen screw
once you remove the handle, there will be a black "stop" held on with a screw, remove that, but remember its position.

once that is off you can adjust the temperature. there will be 2 white pieces, one has splines, you can move this counter clockwise one or two notches at a time untill you reach your desired termp.
be careful not to go too much, even though these are an anti scald valve, you are letting more hot water through it.

How do you adjust temp. water luke warm? This is a single handle. Hot water set at 145.

These type faucets have anti scald dial setting that if you remove the handle you can gain access to it.
Just remove handle and mark or remember where it is and pull it out and reinsert it about 1/4 turn counter clockwise.

It has got marks on it and looks like a little gear.

How to adjust anti scald valve on american standard shower faucet

Remove the handle, and all the trim rings, and the cartridge cover. take a flat head screwdriver and use it to lift
up the red ring behind everything, this is the hot limit safety stop,
this just stops the handle from turning to full hot.

Once you have the red ring lifted up, notice the numbers and the pointer
on the ring, numbers are on the fixture,

O= hottest 7=cold

See what the ring pointer is set to now, and move it half, before you put this back together, just set the handle on the unit and run the water to see if its to hot or not enough. Once you have found what is the best setting, then replace all covers and trim, handle.

The temperature in my shower is very luke warm only at the shower

Do you mean the other faucets in the house are hot and only the shower is warm? If so there is an anti-scald adjustment on the faucet that needs to be turned up a few notches. Havent adjusted a Grohe faucet but most faucets you rmove the handle and behind the handle is a nothced adjustment ring that prevents the faucet from getting too hot. This ring, or stop, is pulled out and twisted clockwise(or counter clockwise to set higher or lower max temp, then pushed back. maybe you can look up grohe to see which way ring or stop adjusts for hotter water.

Moen single handle bathtub faucet

Something is caught in the stem. Make sure the stem is free of debris. Also check that the valve or cartridge is intact.

Have a combi boiler and the hot water from my taps are running cold to luke warm. My British Gas engineer has told me it is nothing to do with the boiler but is caused by a faulty thermostat cartridge in...

Modern shower valves have an "anti scald device" in them to prevent scalding from to hot water.

They come preset at 120 degrees.

Sometimes they can start to malfunction and all you get is warm, not hot water, they can also be intermittent.

This will only effect the shower valve though, not the other faucets.
