Can't get DVD/VCR on TV screen

I have a Sanyo DS31590 TV and a Sylvania DVD/VCR. I plugged in all the connections, even went out and bought an S-Video cable. I can't watch movies. There is no Channel that shows what is on.

I've got the same problem. I can hear the DVD player working because it goes through the stereo, but since the original remote doesn't work, I bought a new universal. It works for t.v. and VCR, but I can't get the t.v. to display what's playing on the DVD. The original remote only needed me to push the "input" button, but that doesn't work on either of the universals I've tried.

I just hook up my DVD player to the cable box. The DVD Player numbers move, but no picture or sound on the TV. Help!

The problem is in the menu of the dvd/vcr combo. Read your manual and I'm sure it will tell you if your using componite/s-video, or composite. I seen alot of them with options that you have to set the output. that would be why you see OSD, or timer and menus with no video.

Universal remotes are not universal....You may be able to find one button labeled as something else to actually change your input. Just have to try them all... Nothing replaces the original....

How to hookup Sanyo DVW-6100 to a Sylvania tv

If the Sylvania tv is a CRT (old style tube tv) you can just use an RCA cable and hook it into the composite video. It will be the cable that has a red, white and yellow connectors on it. The yellow is the video, the red is the right audio and the white is the left audio. Connect ones side of this cable to the output of the DVD/TAPE player and to the input on the TV side.

Programming a remote

You should have instructions that came with your new remote that show you how to program specific buttons to specific functions. In general there is a similar button on universal remotes, it may be called input or some other button that implies changing the video source.

Good Luck

PS2 hook-up

I would suggest to feed video from another source such as DVD or VCR to the same input, if the video is visible from other sources on your TV; that means the video cable from your PS2 is defective. If you did not see any video from the DVD or VCR nor the PS2, it means that there maybe a loose connection inside the TV on the video input.
Hope this helps.

HELP! I can't figure out how to Connect my Sylvania DVD/VCR Combo to my older TV

Even if you do get it connected you cannot copy from vhs to dvd as you have bought a vcr recorder with dvd player, not a dvd recorder. You can only record to the vcr tape from a dvd, in the players controls.
