My STR-DE835 receiver will not stay powered on

My STR-DE835 receiver now keeps shutting itself off immediately after I turn it on, for no apparent reason, no matter how many times I keep pressing the power button. Could this be a blown fuse?

Most likely bad output transistors and a couple of resistors. mp1620 and mn2488 are the part #s for the transistors. If you take it to a repair shop you are looking at spending $100-$130

STR-DE835. White noise coming ferom right rear speaker when DVDs are played. Twise the word "PROTECT" has been displayed.

IF any other source plays fine with the RR speaker, and IF it only happens with the DVD player and IF you're using the 5.1 analog audio feeds to the STR, maybe the audio on that channel is **** from the player. You could prove that by temporarily swapping the RR input from the DVD to any other channel input and test it at a medium level.

If it stays with the DVD RR output, the player or the cable would be suspect. Swap in a different cable and make sure it is not routed uniquely near any sources of magnetic fields, motors, UV or track lights, etc.

---

If you're using digital input all that advice was a waste of time to create as there is nothing external to the chipset that could affect one input channel. Try a different digital input on the STR.

The receiver will be on for a while 5mins.or so, then it will make this loud sound as it goes into protector mode...what is this and how do I fix this. I have it connected to the TV, DVD Player, CD, VHS...

you have speaker wires that are shorting out. unhook all the wires and ohm them out. Find out which one is shorting. I've had this problem before. It's fine until you turn it up, Then the receiver turns off and goes into protect mode. It's just a short in the wiring,.

Have a Sony STR-DE635 that keeps blowing the 2 8 amp fuses in the power supply. disconnected all speakers and powered up with same result. Checked bridge rectifier and (2) 10000 uf caps all are good

Have you checked the rails to ground for shorts. Get hold of a variac as it does make things a lot easier.

Sound like you might have some shorted output devices.

Hope this helps

Sony STR-DE835, I just got U-Verse and now my receiver makes a lound pop and goes into protected mode. If I turn it on and off about 10 times it will work. It will work fine all day but when I turn it off...

My DE-835 Did the same, even with no speakers connected. My fault was caused by the IC501 chip having cracked solder contacts on the main board. Heating (expansion) and cooling (contraction) causes this to happen in many devices. I reflowed the contacts and it works great. I accessesed the bottom of the board by removing the bottom case panel. Be very careful keeping the solder pads from bridging to adjacent contacts. I could see the cracks easily around the IC pins. Before soldering the contacts applying slight pressure on the chip towards the side, I could turn the unit on without having it go into protect. If you try this, watch out for touching live (power) conductors.

Sony STR DE835 center channel issues.

it could be your wire. try using different speaker wire. if it still has that same problem, take the cover off and tap on the amplifier.
