Listening All of the sudden all the songs on it are titled unknown and when you try to play them they come up as "bad track"

  • Anonymous Jan 14, 2008

My SanDisk won't play almost half my songs. When I transfer them from my computer to the mp3, it shows up on the mp3 as "unknown" and won't let me listen to the file. When I click on it, it just skips that song and goes to the next one that isn't one of the 'unknown's.

I added a bunch of music to my MP3 player, and sometimes the songs will work, and sometimes they're unknown.. so I really have no idea what songs are missing unless I were to put them on there one at a time and check to see which ones come up as unknown. It's really frustrating!
I just want to be able to see all the songs that are on my MP3 player because the unknown ones take up so much space!

Labeling Unknown Songs: open Windows Media Player and go to library click on artist. The sub folders will be named by the artists and the unknown songs will be in the sub that say's unknown. Click on unknown then right click on the title bar put a check next to artist and album artist. Right click song under artist or album artist or both and type in the name of the artist etc.... This change in your computers Music folders also then sync with your sansa or media player then load songs to it........

Deleting loaded tracks ie ones I've loaded

You should try taking the battery out. if you unscrew the for screws on the back there will be a battery just take that out and put it back in this should delete everything if it doesnt then i dont know. dont worry about takeing it apart your only takeing the back off to where the battery is. just like your cell phone.

Playlist Trouble

Delete the track number from the ID3 tag to get around this problem. Make sure the GoGear is not set to shuffle - make sure the shuffle is OFF.

Bad track thats not bad

There are several possibilities here. Right click one of the songs that is no longer showing, and click "Properties", and then click the "License" or "Digital Rights" tab. Look at the details of the license - does it say that it is only good for such and such a date? If you were using a trial version of a music service, has that music service's subscription now expired? If the license is expired, the songs will go bad. Only soultion, if this is the case, is to renew your music service subscription.

Try updating the firmware on the player by going to Sansa's website.

After that, reformat the player in Windows Media Player and reload the songs.

Good luck.

Bad track thats not really bad

2 possible reasons why this is.

a. there is a bad file locking ure songs on the mp3 player (in this case, reformat the mp3 player)

b. mp3 player cant read internal memory (in this case, you probably dropped it, and for some reason a pin lifted off the circuit board):D screwed
