Self test is there to test the unit- do a self diagnosis and test the functions of the machine before it is operational, if it gets stuck at one of the test or one of the tests fail then the unit is inoperative until the fault is fixed.
What you can try is taking the power cord out from the unit while its stuck wait 2 minutes and plug it back in.
if the issue remains then there are 3 resets that you can try
partial reset
semi full reset
full reset

the two other resets are, same as the partial reset but the 3 is replaced with a 6 for semi full reset and 9 for a full reset.
if the problem remains after this then you have a hardware problem, take it to a repairer.
