My 27' screen displays a black rectangular box in the bottome 1/3 of the screen. Almost any button on the remote will make it disappear but it always returns after 3-10 seconds. It does this on any input, TV, video, etc. Nothing else seems to be a problem. Sound, tuning, etc. are all fine. It almost looks like a blank picture-in-picture box but this TV does not have that feature. Any ideas? Thanks.

Using your remote ,off the close caption. the black rectangular box that you see for the message but since you have message in the box. that why you see a rectangular black screen.

It sounds that the Closed Caption function [CC}, is not set to ON. Set it OFF. Push the button marked {CC} at the remote control once to get rid of it. If there is no CC button on the remote control, you have to enter its service mode option to deselect it. Take ur tv remote go to menu check the captioning functions turn all CC1,2,3 off and all txt off too.Yes,text functions is on,that why u getting a big black block flashing on ur screen.
Check the set up. You may have closed captioning turned on which will show up as a black box if there is no closed captioning information for the selected channel. If that fails to resolve the problem, update this.
Check your closed-caption settings and make sure it's turned off. You'll probably find it's now set to text mode. The set is blanking out the part of the screen where text would be displayed, but there isn't any.
Go into your settings of the TV menu or there will be a single button on the JVC remote marked "CC" for closed caption. Press it or in the menu turn off the "TEXT" mode. With the text mode on you are allowing the TV to display text information wich means usually a black rectangular box that appears on the screen with no text in it. Usually on the cc button just press it until it scrolls through turning off the CC or text modes.
On the reomte control (bottom) left of the sleep button is a cc button, push that until "OFF" appears on the screen. The close caption box should disappear. It worked for me, finally.
