Panasonic Toughbook CF-51 laptop blue FN key locked on

Hi,

The blue Fn key which is used to make the other keys with blue functions work is locked on. To type I have to hold down the fn key and only get lowercase letters. I can not get capital letters using this method. If I don't hold down the blue Fn key I just get the limited blue functions from my keyboard.

Hit "FN" and the "NUM Lock" key together to unlock it.

I believe thats the combination.

Or, try holding the FN key for a few seconds. It varies of different models.

Im using Toughbook CF53 and all of a sudden it is not working. I checked all the properties thru control panel and Fn + F4 keys everything looks fine. What could be the problem and can i get help how

I had a similar situation with my CF-53. Oddly, the speakers would not work, but headphones plugged into the port on the front of the laptop would. Could you verify that you get audio through the headphone port, please?

Keyboard is stuck in numeric mode. Can't type

On the Panasonic Toughbook CF-51 there is a key located on the top right next to the F12 function key called "NumLk" or Num Lock.
Press this key once and the embedded numeric keypad is enabled.
Press it a second time and it is disabled.
How do you know if it is enabled or disabled?
Simple: Observe the LED above the keyboard. If the second light with the square symbol and the number "1" is lit up, then the NumLock is enabled. If that LED is not lit up it is disabled.

Good Luck.

I can hardly see the screen as it is so faded

Laptops have a variable light output. There should be a Function (FN) key and then somewhere on the keys a sun with an UP and DOWN arrow. Press and hold FN and press that UP a few times and the "backlight" should go brighter.

Panasonic CF-51 Toughbook Fn keys don't work at all

The following website contains the needed drivers:

https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pc/cgi-bin/itn/toughbook/dl01.cgi

Select your model of CF-51 Toughbook, but you MUST be specific. There are about nine variations of the CF-51 so you must use the right drivers.

Download the hkeyapp, hkeyset, and hotkey files and unpack all files. Use the default unpack locations. If you download the files for a laptop version that is not your own, when you try to run any of these files the computer will tell you that the file is not for your model. If the files successfully unpack then you know you have the right files.

For hkeyset and hkeyapp you must run the set-up applications in the unpacked folders.

Go to Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager and go to Other Devices.

The Hotkeys will appear as an "Unknown Devices" so if there is more than one, right click and choose "Update Driver".

Select "Install driver from specific location" and direct it to "C:\util2\drivers\hotkey" folder.

The computer will find the file and install the driver after which point you must restart the computer.

Hope this helps. It took me a while to figure this stuff out on my own so hope it speeds up somebody else's attempt.
