There are a huge range of motherboards to choose from.
The mounting holes on the motherboard will match the desktop mounting plate, these are standard configurations.
Stick with the well known brands and with the functions that suit your requirements.
My choice of brands are Gigabyte, Intel, MSI. Most of the late model motherboards have SATA disk controllers.
If you are into gaming and video editing etc. go for a motherboard without a built-in graphics card and purchase a separate high end graphics card.

Any sata hdd can't dected by the mother board but any sata dvd dected by the mother board. what kind of procedure i followed now?

Your motherboard CAN detect a SATA device.
Your motherboard DOES detect your SATA optical device.
Your motherboard does NOT detect your SATA disk-drive.

This suggests that your disk-drive is "dead".
Exercise the WARRANTY on it, to get it repaired/replaced.
Or, if the warranty has EXPIRED, purchase a new SATA disk-drive.

Broken SATA Connector on Motherboard

SATA connector can be replaced if a local technician should have any old damaged mother board with him and if he is ready to fix it on *********** board. you will have to find it by going to the different repair shop if they are available.there is no alternate solution to this problem as there is only one connector on the mother board. if some repair store agrees to do it for you then it could be done or else you will have to get the motherboard replaced.

Gear Head Lightscribe 24x DVD+/-R Triple Format SATA

Your original CDROM drive is likely an IDE interface (large rectangular connector), where as the new one is a SATA interface (small narrow connector). If your original is an IDE, the simplest solution is to return the SATA and purchase an IDE DVD.

DELL PowerEdge 1600sc - New motherboard no joy

Are you sure the new motherboard was of the same revision as the old one? Dell shipped 400FSB boards during the beginning of the 1600SC line and shipped 533Mhz boards during the end of the run. I would check the revision level of the motherboard to make sure it is compatible. If it's the same revision, I would start small and connect just one CPU and put the system at 512mb ram and see if that works. If this works, you can begin to add additional components as needed.

Good luck

I have lost the scsi drive on a dell 1600sc and would like to convert to sata. During boot up the sata controller is reconizing the 2 hard drives but, come but with "no primary drive found"

The best thing to do is reinstalling SCSI, SATA can only manage two disk per channel on this server, and the data transfer time is longer.

If you set SATA, check jumper settings, that is probably reason why you get no primary drive.
Also check bios settings , do hdd auto detect and save in bios if you want to use sata.

If instead you want to go back to SCSI, download the drivers from the link below.

Download page from Dell.

Will the ms9327e + (usb) support a SATA drive?

well it depends on what board you have.

your best bet is to look on the motherboard.

the SATA connection looks almost identical to the connection on the harddrive, so you can use that for reference.

on the harddrive you will see 2 plugs. the smaller one plugs into the motherboard and the larger one is power.

for power, power adaptors are made to convert the standard 4 pin connector to a SATA one.

DISK BOOT FAILURE

The sata cable\bus that connect the hard disk with the motherboard get loosen up some times. that results in the disk boot failure. if you once remove the sata cable from the harddisk and motherboard and then fix it tightly you can get the system working properly again. if the problem again persist then bye a new sata cable and fix it by replacing the older one, Thank You!
