sounds like the Hard Disk is failing. try booting into safe mode by Pressing F8 Before the Windows 7 Splash Screen. The run diagnostics on the C Drive. Open Recovery by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type recovery, and then click Recovery.
You can use Recovery to restore the state of your computer's system to a previous point in time, or restore the contents of your hard disk from a backup. You can also reinstall Windows from a recovery image installed on your hard disk.
Error code 7 means that your hard disk drive failed and is defective. As for reloading windows XP, I wouldn't. It's not supported by Microsoft any more. I would load Win 7 after replaceing the drive.
If you used WD data lifeguard diagnostics, then you should check your cables to make sure they are securely connected...Perhaps try another data cable you know works, if possible and then retest. If you get the same error, your drive is most likely corrupt or on it's way atleast. If your drive is still functioning, make a backup of your data and call WD for warranty (replacement information).
Unmountable Boot Volumes almost always indicate a failure of the hard drive. You can try running CHKDSK /R from recovery console or a clean installation of Windows. If those fail, replace the hard drive.
This drive error code 7 means the controller board that controls the drive has failed, the board is located on the harddrive itself, Replacing this drive will solve your problem, unfortunely Segate has had many issues with this drive especially the SATA ver .7, 160GB versions..
It sounds like you've had a fatal error - you can reboot the PC back to factory setting - this is called a hard reset - but before you do that - unplug you tower and clean it out (dust & dirt) - once you're done with that - restart you computer and press &hold down the "Ctrl" and "F11" button at the same time - this will let you reset the PC to the original factory configuration.
It is the Hard drive on the system. Hard Drive is failing. Another Error code for the Hard Drive is Error Code 7. Check BIOS setup if the system still detects the Hard Drive as well. You may want to consider changing the Hard Drive on the system.
I think you might have a failing hard drive. if you go into the Boot menu by pressing F12 while it is booting up you will see an option named Hard Drive Diagnostic. This is what you want to run. If it returns an error code of 7 then the drive is most likely failing or failed.
