My ice maker doesnt make ice i have checked all the obvious stuff

Does it have Ice bucket in door? If so, most likely emitter and receiver that shoots red laser across and through ice bucket is bad. Obviously check to see that Ice Maker is cut on either at switch or with wire arm lowered.

if you are doing this stuff and have questions your problem is you are doing your own work and obviously have no idea what you are doing, and you should stop it and call a professional.

Diana, if I understand you ok, the ice you put in the glass leaves slimy residue. So that slimy stuff has to be in the ice cube. Well remove the the ice maker unit and thoroughly clean this ice holder and throw away the ice cubes in the kitchen sink and see if leaves slimy stuff. As for slimy stuff, while the unit is out, check any leaks etc. BTW any smell?

Can you locate the Kenmore Model Number? It will look like this=> 321.654987 What I think is the dual water control valve is leaking once it turns off. Here below is a ice a ice maker repair clip on You-Tube where he shows a slug of ice filling the ice maker fill tube. In most cases replacing the water control valve will stop the continued water flow to the ice maker once the ice maker fills. I will be here to answer any questions you have Thanks Sea Breeze

You don't....... Take the whole Ice Maker and PITCH it if you think it is bad. If the motor took a dump on you, then replacing it will only put more strain of a NEW MOTOR on other components in the Ice Maker. Ice Makers are so cheap these days, if one dies on you, just replace the whole thing and relax in your easy chair.

Ice makers are pretty much trouble free, so the odds of you getting a second bummer unit, is pretty remote. Since you have the talent to take it out, obviously you have the talent to put it back.

Now then, if your a tinkering type of person, then go to ANY APPLIANCE - Mom-Pop store and ask them for a couple broken ice makers. They will probably give them to you for FREE, I know we had several that we kept tripping over. Take them home and take them apart and more than likely you will be able to come up with a motor that will fit, or you will find out how the darn things work. Or, you might just get frustrated enough, to buy the new one like I suggested in the first place. I like tearing stuff apart too.

Pour about 1/2 cup of water into ice maker . If it dumps , replace the water valve . If doesn't dump , replace the ice maker . Also make sure the coils are clean of dust , lint , etc...

check the ice-maker itself, it has a teflon coating (like a frying pan) that sometimes flakes off leaving little black flakes in the ice. if this is the case you have to change the ice-maker.

1 may have frozen water line
2 reset ice maker press in ice lever 5 times
3check check ice maker plug

i know it sounds obvious but check water supply is turned on. another easy check is the inlet valve is ok

The "ice maker module" is pretty vague. THere's lots of things that work together to make ice. Could be a bad motor, a bad solenoid (electric valve that lets the water in), a broken gear, a loose wire, or just frozen up. If you havent pinpointed the problem, you are probably wasting money buying a new "ice maker module". I'd advise looking for obvious problems (frozen/jammed, no water input, broken looking stuff) and if you dont see anything, call a repairman.
