If you want to reset to factory settings, there should be a small, pin-size hole on the back somewhere you can press with a toothpick --- hold it in for 15 - 20 seconds and you should be good as new

I cannot connect to the WFC because it needs the ip adress and the connection fails

Click start type cmd press enter you will be in DOS mode
type in ipconfigpress enter you will see all of your internet connection details type in your default gateway ip adress into your internet search should read something like 10.0.0.138

Your IP Address should be thought more as your computer's phone number than it's address, if you have multiple connections, you have multiple IPs if you dont have a connection, you dont have an IP.

Without further delay If you need your computers IP address:
This will work in almost every case, it simply requests the website's server to tell you what your IP is. http://whatismyipaddress.com/
I have included a link to make things easier.

If you are in a network and need your computers local address.
Hold the windows button (looks like the windows banner, usually between left ctrl and left alt) and press 'R'.

A box will display, and type in "cmd.exe" and hit enter.
The 'command prompt' will display, a black screen with white lettering.
Simply type in ipconfig. This gives information on all your internet connections.

Look for the line "IPv4 Address".
If you need to find the IP of a current connection you can type (from the command prompt) "netstat".

This will give you all your current connections.
To identify a specific one, the easiest way is to run it before you establish the connection then again afterwards.
Change IP Addresses

Your IP address is a series of numbers that identify your specific computer on the Internet.
If, for some reason, you want to change your IP address, you can do so without going into the command prompt.Click "Start," "Control Panel," "Network and Internet" and "Network and Sharing Center."

Click "Change adapter settings."
Right-click the network you want to change and click "Properties."

Click the "Networking" tab.

Put a check either next to Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) or Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click "Properties."

Click the radio button next to Obtain an IP Address Automatically if you want Windows to assign one, or click "Use the following IP address" to manually change it.

Enter the requested information and click "OK."

Www netgear com supportar

A wireless router is an external computer peripheral that accepts an incoming Internet connection, such as that from a cable modem, and converts it into a local wireless signal, allowing computers in the area with wireless adapters to connect to the Internet.

Netgear is a popular manufacturer of wireless routers; the settings on Netgear routers can be changed by logging in to the router with a Web browser.

Determine your wireless router's IP address. Many Netgear routers are set to 192.168.0.1 by default.

In Windows 7, you can find this IP address by clicking "Start," then typing "cmd" in the search box, without clicking "Enter."

When the search completes, right-click on the command icon and select "Run as administrator." In the window that opens, type "ipconfig" and click enter.

Your router's IP address will be shown on the "Default Gateway" line.
In earlier versions of Windows, click "Start," then "Run," then type "Command" in the box, click "OK," then type "ipconfig" and press enter.

Your router's IP will be listed as the "Default Gateway."
Open an Internet browser and type the router's IP address into the address bar.

Enter your router's username and password if prompted to log in. By default, the user name and password may be "admin" and "password."

Change settings within the router's administrative center as necessary.
There will be several menus available where you can set up security for your router and set various communication options.

Choose to apply or save changes as necessary.
Your router's menus should have plainly visible buttons to apply and/or save changes you make to the settings.

Close the browser window when you are finished making changes.

I cannot connect to the internet, after i push the reset button, the internet indicator turns red, is there something changes happen on configuration of my router due to that i reset it? need some help,...

To open the set up page of the router of the router , one of your computer should be able to go online through the router.
It could be a wired computer or wireless computer.
If it is a wireless computer then make sure that the computer is connected to your own wireless network.
Do not change any wireless settings on the router using a wireless computer.
OK ! Now you have a computer online through the router and you want to open the set up page of the router.

First step is check the IP address of the computer.
Check the IP address and the Default gateway on the computer.

For Windows XP

START ==> RUN ==> type in cmd in the RUN box==> click OK or Hit ENTER . You will see a black window that is a command prompt . In the black window type in " ipconfig " ==> and Hit ENTER on your key board .

For Windows Vista and Windows 7

click on START ==> type in cmd in the start search box ==> enter ==> you will see the black window. Type in " ipconfig "you will see a lot of information. Try to find out the local area connection IPv4 address .

Note down the Default gateway number.

For MAC OS

Click APPLE icon in the right top corner of the computer. Go to System Preferences ==> go to Network ==> you will find the option Built in Ethernet or Airport whichever is connected. If you go to that you will find the Ip address and router Address.

The default gateway is the IP address of your router.

This IP address of the router will be used to open the set up page of the router

Now you got the IP address of the router.Open the Internet Browser ( Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari )

In the Address bar of the browser Type the IP address of the router.

Do not type http:// or www just type in the IP address only.

It will ask you for the user name and the password of the router.

This is the User name and the password of the router and NOT the wireless password. On a wireless router, there are 2 passwords. One is to access the router and the other one is for the wireless network.

For most of the routers the default password will be " admin " . for some routers the default password is " password ". For Linksys router the default password is admin and no user name.

I had to assign my router a new IP address and that made the wireless computer loose its connection, how do i reassign the wireless computer to the new IP address?

That is easy. You have to change the Default Gateway. Make sure you are running DHCP in the Router as well. Otherwise you may have to change the IP Address of the Computer to suite the New IP Address and its Subnet.
  1. You have to go to "Network Connections" in the Control panel.
  2. Go to the Wireless Adapter Section and Choose the Local Connection.
  3. Right Click on Properties and the Double Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
  4. If you are using a "Static IP Address", Please change the IP Address of your Machine to suite the IP Address and Change the Default Gateway to the New Address (And then the DNS Server Address as well, if you are running DNS from your Router).
  5. If you are running DHCP (You will see that the boxes are Blank and "Obtain IP Address Automatically" and "Obtain DNS Address Automatically" selected) this cannot happen. Then you have to check your Router's DNS Settings for the Internal Network. Make Suitable Changes.
  6. If you have tried this only once and if you have the DHCP running try changing only the DNS in the TCP/IP settings. It may work. Or try to Release the IP and Renewing it.
  7. Use ipconfig /release and then ipconfig / renew on a Command Prompt.
  8. If you are running DNS and DHCP Locally, then you have to change their settings to Point to the Router.
Hope this will solve the issue. If it helped you so, please be kind enough to Rate the answer with a Testimonial.
Feel free to contact again if the problem Persists.
Thanks for contacting Fixya!
