A good watch repair shop can do this work. Not cheap, but if you like the watch, thats the way to go.

Hold down the C for about 2 seconds (set Hold) will appear and the time offset valve will flash on the display. Press B twice to display the screen for selecting 12-hour or 24-hour timekeeping. Press D to select (12-hour) timekeeping.
Note: The PM indicator appears between noon and 11:59 PM. After all the settings are the way you want Press C to exit the setting screen.

It sounds as if the watch has taken a knock, and the hands are no longer properly aligned (that is, no longer at right angles to the stem, so that they rise up and down with respect to the watch face as they rotate, and typically try to 'cross' at a particular time of day).
If this is the case you might be able to see it if you first pull out the winder to the time adjustment position, then look closely across the watch face as you rotate the winder.
If I'm right, it's not a big job to correct it, but not one for the enthusiastic amateur. If you value your watch then take it to a reputable watch repairer.

If the day is in a window next to the date, pull the crown out one position to the same position used for the date correction. Often turning one way changes the date, turning the other direction changes the day. If your day is on a small dial on the watch dial then pull the crown out two clicks and go around 24 hours at a time and you will see the day advance.

It is possible for jewelers to order exact fit replacement crystals for many watches. However, generic replacements are not made for all watches. If your jeweler cannot perform this service (which may cost as little as $10 for common crystals), ask if the jeweler knows of a jeweler's specialty business that can custom-fit crystals. These small shops custom-grind crystals from blank stock and hand-fit them to your watch. Such companies used to be relatively common; today, most conduct operations via mail-order or exist in large cities like New York where there is enough local wholesale and walk-in business.
Department stores and chain jewelry stores rarely have the on-sight resources to service a broad selection of watch crystals. Seek out an independent jeweler or one that has a "we repair watches" sign displayed.

mcdevito75 here, generally you"d press the chrono button to start the chrono and press again to stop it, NOW! press the chrono button again to re-set it. Should work.

You probably will have to send it away to get sorted (make sure you send it insured and very well protected).
You should contact cerruti to see who the repair shop is in the UK, (not sure they have one.)
Failing that you may be able to buy a replacement strap of ebay and have a general watch shop change strap for you.
Or find a jewellers that sell straps, they should have one that fits.

You pull the knob for time-adjustment but only pull it half-way. Pulling it all the way lets you set the time, and half-way through lets you set the date.
