I had a similar problem when the printer wouldn't print. Make sure that the printer 3400 lexmark series is the default printer in the control panel. (start/control panel/printers/printers and faxes/right click lexmark 3400 series/set as default printer).

I have the same problem. The printer works on my old computer but not the one I just got.
Lexmark 3400 . Will not comunicate with computer . It will scan, copy . But will not print.Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, no joy, and checked all conections,
My laptop says unable to communicate to the printer. I dont know if replacing the cable will work or no, because whenever I turn on the printer or connect it with the laptop, I hear a beep and a small icon of the new device in the bottom right corner, so I guess the laptop knows something is connected to it.
Please suggest some way.

I have Brother DCP-135c usb printer&scanner.I'm using windows vista.when I plug in the printer USB cable,It says"USB not recognize".I dont know how to fix this problem...
I have exactly the same problem, printer was fine up to last week , then just stopped working, i too have tried unistalling and re-installing, the printer is recognised by the computer, everything is o.k as per the help pages, but try to print .....................not recognised !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! very frustrated
