Whirlpool wgd5300sq0 dryer get hot then cools down. I replaced the thermal fuse as this was the cause the last time this problem was obsereved, however this time the problem has not be resolved. If I shut the dryer off for 5 mins and start again it gets hot again, then cools in 5 minutes or so.

Sounds like the thermal cut-off is kicking in. Try checking the vent to make sure its not blocked and causing it to overheat, this would cause the cool down (the other candidate is a bad fuse, but if you fixed that already I would leave that for last)

Electric Whirlpool dryer won't cool down during drying cycle and even gets hot during air fluff cycle. Replaced thermal fuse and is still the same.

There are two thermostats on my whirlpool model number 857554115010.
Both should be replaced at the same time.
I found a good video on

I bought the parts from them and it worked.

Thermal fuse in dryer keeps blowing out

Hi Janet Douglas
Check to make sure your vent is clear, this can cause the overheat problem and blow the thermal fuse.
Also check to make sure the blower is not full of lint also as this can cause the same problem you are having happen.
Another thought:
Right after replacing a dryer element, always run the dryer on air fluff/no heat, and go outside to verify there's plenty of air coming out your vent system.
If the vent's clogged, that new element and thermal can burn out very quickly.

WHIRLPOOL DRYER MODEL LE7680XSWZ- NO HEAT

Be sure you have 220 volts to the machine.
Check thermal fuse
Check heating element
Check all thermastats
Motor may have shut down from too much heat will have to cool for some time. If it did need to find why it got too hot.

My Whirlpool Dryer gets very hot, even at the air only setting, I have even ran the dryer on the cool down mode and it still get very how. Last week I had to change the heating element, since then the...

The problem that I see is that there should be no heat when running the air only setting. If you did not miswire anything, then I suspect the control board may have failed. You really need to use a multimeter to troubleshoot the machine so that you can see where the problem lies

Dryer runs but will not heat. Replaced fuse and

your cycling thermostat needs changed too. the thermal fuse is your last safety measure that goes, which means your cycling thermostat is not shutting down the heat element once it detects the right temp hot air in the blower housing so it let the heat element glow until either the high-limit sensor shuts the heat down or the thermal fuse blows. Change the cycling thermostat and good luck
