    That's the one! Thanks!

This worked for my Acer Travelmate 4100, running Ubuntu 10.10.

My laptop was showing "Wireless is disabled". I pressed that button, and the wireless came up in seconds!

Not all laptops have a "switch"
If you can't find a switch along the sides of the front or right/left sides, then use your Function Keys.
Press the Function Key (Fn) and look on the "F" keys (above the numbers on your keyboard) for the WiFi icon, It looks like a stick with a ball on the top - and 3 bent vertical lines on each side).. Press these 2 keys at the same time to switch the wireless on and off

SOURCE: I've just bought a secondhand acer travelmate 2310 & want to enable the wireless LAN so I can conect to the internet?

On the front edge of the computer next to the sound card jack is a small bar, pushing in on the bar should bring up a message on the screen saying wireless enabled or disabled.

SOURCE: where is the switch to turn on your wireless

Hello,

Please check at the front on your laptop where the audio jacks are. There should be two sliders, one is for the bluetooth and one is for the wireless.

Move slider to utmost right, then release - It should then say something like 'Wireless enabled' or 'Wireless disabled'

Make sure you have the Wireless driver installed:

SOURCE: reformatting an Acer Travelmate 2310

Enter the first recovery cd, and choose the option to format the hard drive and install a fresh copy of windows. Then enter the second recovery cd when it asks. It should have an option of formatting the drive when you put in the recovery cds. There is not that much that can go wrong, since you want to delete everything anyway. Hope that helps :).

Full system restore of Acer TravelMate 2310

If you have th eOperating system disk, you can re-install from scratch - but that will lose your documents - so you should back them up to DVD.

Then install all the drivers you need from the Acer site found here,

If this helped you then please help me and vote kindly, thank you.
