Won't record and never has. get disk error e24
Anyone know where I could get a free download for a Emerson Dvd/vcr combo firmware upgrade??? (Ewr20v4) I need it right away . Emerson will charge to mail me one.
I would settle for being able to find this firmware whatsoever. Funai will no longer cooperate on this matter. They swear they no longer have the firmware and that there is nothing they can (or will) do for anyone on this. (I have their emails as testament of that.) I can only record (DVD-RW) at 1x-2x. Not even at 4x. I could really use that firmware that by now, surely most that had the upgrade no longer need. If anyone has this, could you make it available to those of us that need it? Thank you in advance.

I can record on -RW but not just -R which says you can. My manual says that you have to set recording, and the format needs to say Video Mode for -R or -RW and / or for -RW it can also be VR mode. I have had no problems on the -RW but i wanted to record my home videos on -R and it won't go, I've used a Sony so maybe I will try a different type of DVD. Mine also says E24 error code.
If anyone has aany other advice I would take it.

I don't have a list of error codes, but maybe the brand of -R or -RW you're trying is not compatible (who knows why, part of the legacy of the "digital revolution"). Emerson has told me that Verbatim & JVC will work, but I've only tried & succeeded with Maxell, Memorex, & Fuji discs (the latter of which they said was not compatible!). Whatever you try, see if it's labelled for 1X &/or 2X recording -- "faster" discs will require the firmware upgrade ($23 f. Emerson). Good luck --
