Turn on the CD tuner by pressing the power button.
Enter your code numbers to unlock the device if it's necessary.
Use the tuning buttons to navigate to the AM or FM radio band.
Use the seek or manual tuning buttons to find the desired station.
Once you find the desired station, press and hold the preset button to save it to a specific preset location.
If you are having trouble with the CD tuner losing your presets, you may want to try resetting the unit to its factory settings. You can consult your owner's manual
If you have buttons on your radio that allow you to switch stations, it generally is simply a matter of pressing and holding the button in place for 10-15 seconds. The year, make, and model of the vehicle doesn't say much, as vehicle may have an aftermarket radio. Just find the station you want and if there is a are button presets, just push and hold it in. On most of my cars, old and newer that I have owned, confirmation of the setting is generally accompanied by a beep. Good luck! JD

Some Kenwood KDC models allow you to select one of 3 "tuning modes", 1) AUTO1 - Automatic search for stations; 2) AUTO2 - Search Preset stations; 3) MANUAL - Normal manual tuning control. If your Kenwood is one of these models, you need to set the tuning mode to MANUAL. For Kenwood Excelon HD receivers, direct access tuning is done by using the included remote. 1) Press DIRECT button on the remote; 2) Press number buttons to enter desired channel number; 3) Press DIRECT button again to exit direct tuning.

If you only get 1 station no matter what station you tune into, you have a ans electrical problem on the main board of the radio. Your tuning voltage is not changing as you tune thru stations. There is most likely a shorted or open transistor that supplies the tuning voltage on the main board.
There is no easy fix for this, you would need the schematic to find out why the tuning voltage is not changing.
If you know how to do electronic troubleshooting and have a multimeter and the schematic you can fix it with not to much trouble. If this is not the case, you will need to take it in to a service center.
Sorry that there is no easy fix for this problem.
Hi Gil, not sure what you mean by RE-setting presets but I assume your using a dock of some kind, and in that case you simply tune to the station you desire then hold down the preset number you'd like to set it to. It will overwrite the previous setting. hope that helps.
I haven't done this on mine yet, but on most you simply tune to the desired station then HOLD IN the preset button you want to assign it to until it blinks or some such indication of setting acceptance.
