I just bought a new battery for my 8310 blackberry curve but when I install the battery and plug it into an AC outlet with charger a screen pops up with a battery and a red line through it. Is this normal when first charging a brand new battery?

my blackberry 8310 was low in battery had red bar then turned itself off i plug the charger in and it comes on red for a second, then the little egg timer comes on now and agan then turns itself off
is your phone on auto key lock. this helps my phone so that the battery doesnt drain so quickly, ten hours constantly on it is sufficient for a new phone these days
My phone was doing the same thing. I woke up in the morning to see that is wasn't charging from any outlet or my USB.
I instead concentrated on the USB opening on my phone, and realized that one of the pins was so ever slightly moved up. I took a safetly pin and gently kept bending it back down. Now it charges. Good luck and hope that helps! Just something different from the warranty/flashthrow away solution.
