There is a fuse located over the heating element in front of the fan. It sits over a small slot above the heating element (probably to cause it to stop working by design). Yes I'm a pessimist. It can be bypassed if it is an emergency by wiring across it. I'm trying to find the replacement fuse now (10amp jet 250v #00575) If you find it please send info to [email protected]. I hope we all get our heaters working, for $250 + dollars you'd expect it to last longer than 1 month.
I have the same problem.
I have a similar problem. I have a FL18-R and both fan and heat are not working. Any solutions?
I have the same problem as well. Did u get yours fix?
I wired in an in-line fuse holder and stuck a 10A fuse in it, (just in case I need to open the back up again). Works like new, (of course, mine was only a couple of months old when it failed also). Hope that helps...
just bought the FL18 at a garage sale for 40. bucks...fan and heater not working, although the fire and flame effect is. What are these things worth new?

Same problem. Couldn\'t be in a more inconvenient place! First tried removing the back.... Isn\'t that usually where everyone starts?! Found it easier to just remove the screws at the top. The lid just comes right off. I don\'t build these things but having a fuse sitting above the heater just seems like a poor idea! Now... Removing that fuse is not easy! Amazing how just thin metal can hold that in that that tight. I was successful removing the side that the fuse wire coils around as for the other side.. Well.. In the end I just tore it out. It would not free itself from the clamp. Something so small made me sweat too much! One person commented that they put kind like an extender. Good idea! Put it where it is convenient to change if it happens again and it won\'t be baking over the heater that was most likely the problem for the fuse to blow in the first place! Yes it was torture to fix the beast but I now have a new talent under my belt... Fuse Coleman fireplace replacer extraordinaire good luck on your future torture if you buy this product new or used. Hope this was somewhat helpful. Cheers all!
Lisa, the fuse does not have to sit over the cutout of the heater? I also have two white wires the are on the right side of the fan. One I know goes to the fuse, the other I am not sure. Just bought this from another owner and they had it torn apart. The wire I am not sure about is the wire that is connected to the left side of the fan and runs behind the fan to the right side. Any idea where that wire connects?
