LCS SB23U TV controller completely stopped working. Changed the batteries twice still not working. Last night the screen went black with only sound for about 15 minutes then pictures came back. TV was purchased in April this year.

It is possible that the screen dimmed too much after you changed batteries. One of the two procedures will work.
Press the [2nd] key and release it. Press the UpArrow and keep it held down for a while. As you hold pressure on UpArrow key the screen should darken. Stop when satisfied.
Alternative.
Press [2nd] key and hold pressure. Press the UpArrow repeatedly until screen darkens to your liking.
what you describe is almost impossible ..the only explaining is someone with a compatible remote control messing around with you ..so ...pay attention ..and after that if you are completely sure that this is out of case...Leave a comment and I will search for another possible cause ..
For the last week my TV has been going to a black screen for 10 seconds or so then the picture returns. It has been continual. Last night it stopped going to black screen, but now the standby light flashes 5 consecutive times and the color went haywire. A lot of red and everything that is suppose to be black is green.
I did a soft and hard reset with no success. What's wrong and is it worth fixing? Bought new in November 2002.
The best way is to contact your service provider and ask them to trouble shoot guide you, there should be a way to reset or diagnose the receiver or if you prefer go back to the place you bought it and ask for a replacement, You should still have the manufacturer's warranty, check that as well.
