I bought a 4 fared cap, 500/1 jl audio amp, 200/4 alpine amp and 2 w3V2 jl audio subs about 1 year and a half ago. I was hittin real hard but I had no complaints until now. about 2 months ago my bass will go out when i tried to put it loud. It seemed like I had a battery problem so i bought a yellow top. It solved the problem for about 2 days then it did the same thing again. No bass when turned up loud. Then I was thinking it might be the cap so i was thinking of buying a new one but yesterday my whole system was messing up on me. The music(on low) would turn off completely for about a split second. about 10 to 15 times in a 5 minute span. It stopped when i got to work. When heading home from work i put my sounds on and a song with nice sounding bass came on and blew my subs at medium volume level. I dont know what may have blown out my subs?? Bad wire somewhere, bad amp, bad cap or what. PLease help!!

just go through ur connections man one by one ull find the prob soon.....check teminals on battery...power line to amp ....all fuses within prob area and obviously make sure u have a good ground.....really impotant.....ground is the most neglected thing people do from my experience bein a audio tech oh and if that isnt it check ur subs....stick a 9v batt on the back pos n neg of each sub n c if they pop in r out this will determine if ur subz r blown
you dont want to connect both of those amplifiers together. You could run them separately to separate subs or the jl to your sub and your alpine to your front speakers. But you dont ever want to mix and match amps to the same sub. Even if you had 2 jl500/1's you wouldnt want to just hook them up together. Because they both have to be putting out the exact same amount of power. Which no 2 amps are ever exactly the same. Some companies make bridges to properly connect 2 exact amps together. I Hooked up 2 JL 1000/1's to each voice coil on a 13.5 W7 and i smoked the sub. So i definitely dont reccommend doing it unless the amps are conneccted to separate things.
try one at a time. if they work then try hooking them up differently. if none work, then check to see that your amp is not in protect mode. if amp is ok, then check to make sure you have your rcas connected to your amp. in other words, re-check all your wiring. if still nothing, try your amp on your friends car and vise versa.
silly as it sounds, you may want to check your EQ settings on your headunit. Things like sub volume, SLA, loudness and balance. When they replaced your battery, those old settings were lost.
Well if it is not dual 4 ohm, i have never heard of a sub with dual 3 ohms. There must be something wrong with the voice coils and if that is not it, I dont know.
The JL Audio 500/1 outputs 500 watts RMS into a load from 1.5 to 4 ohms. Whether your subs have 2 ohm or 4 ohm voice coils, they should be wired in series and the subs paralleled to the amp. The final load to the amp will be either 2 ohms or 4 ohms, both of which the amp can handle. If you parallel the voice coils and then parallel the subs, the final impedance will be either 0.5 ohm or 1 ohm, both too low for the amp.
You can wire each sub to a separate set of terminals or both to the same set. The terminals are connected internally. It doesn't matter which of the +'s or -'s you use.

I dont know how you blew both subs with a 1000/1. the subs have an rms of about 400w. according to jl,the sweet spot for them is about 500-600watts. are you sure that you had the jumpers wired correctly and the amp at 2ohms?
You can connect them in a series/parallel configuration. Put two of them in series and then connect the last one in parallel across the two in series. This would give you an impeadance of around 2.7 ohms. Only do this if your amp is stable at 3 ohms or less. I am not familiar with the specs of your amp. If your amp is only 4 ohm stable you can not do this.
This would also give you half the power on the two subs in series as the power for the one that is parallel. The two in series would be sharing the total output signal, where-as the one in parallel would get the entire output signal from the amp.
if you were to connect a fourth sub woofer in this configuration it could give you a 4 ohm load, by adding the fourth sub in series with the single sub that is in parallel. or in other words, yu have two sets of 2 sub woofers each in series. That gives you two 8 ohm loads (two 4 ohm subs in series is 8 ohms). Then you take the two sets of subs and parallel them (two 8 ohm loads in parallel equals 4 ohms).
