Plasma TV - won't turn on

I have an Akai Plasma tv and while in the middle of watching a show, the tv suddenly turned off. I heard the same sound it makes as if I turned it off myself, which I didn't. I tried to turn the tv back on, but it wouldn't turn on.
It is connected to my digital box and the digital box is working fine. I unplugged it and plugged it into it's own outlet and still no luck. I can not seem to find a reset button or a fuse box. HELP

Well, there is no fuse box. it's a small, 20mm fuse, tere is one on each board. just remember what screws you take off where. take pics along the way, draw yourself notes. inside it's like home computer, just boards and screws. probably fuse or the power supply board itself.

I was watching my Hitachi 42hdm12 and heard a pop and now the picture won't show up or sound or anything?

A pop is usually a power surge and you blew a board. If you take the tv apart, if this is it, it will be evident by the burn marks. You could have burned out the internal power supply as well.

Akai rear projection tv suddenly stopped working.

This set with Akai is actually made by Samsung (they own and use the Akai name).

If lamp light etc and you have heard a cracking sound it may be the color wheel.

You can remove the lamp and look where it faces--look and the wheel can be seen----is it shattered or missing plastic pieces?

The wheel commonly fails in this fashion and is turning at over 12,000 rpm. The set will detect if the wheel is stopped or moving too slow and just what you describe will happen.

Wheel is widely available and You Tube has video instructions for replacing them by model number.

Watching TV and all of a sudden a loud pop came from the back of the set. Doesn't turn back on after unplugging.

Hello
Check its power supply regulator board. The pop sound you heard may be due to an explosion to any electrolytic capcitors on it. If the line voltage exceeds, this fault will happen. just repalce the damaged component. It is best to replace this board as card basis.

Our akai pdp6065ta 60" plasma hd tv will not turn

Try the power button on the tv. Your remote may have dead batteries. If no luck still, it sounds like your power supply unit has gone south. Check for warranty before attempting to repair.

TV turned on, heard loud pop. Now screen is very dark.

It sounds like the actual tube / lamp inside the unit has exploded. You will need to either get it repaired at a local TV repair shop or replace the TV. Unfortunately with that unit it is probably cheaper to just replace it.

Our tv will not turn on

Our AKAI was just 14 months old. A few days ago, it died also. Blank screen, no sound, but the timer light will flash on a couple of times when you try to power it up. It even sounds like it wants to turn on. I paid a tech to come to my house $65 and it turns out to be the power supply $385. I checked other chat boards and many people are having this same problem with their AKAI 42" (PT4298HD) televsion. A real piece of junk this model! Sorry for the bad news!
