I have a honda gx 160 5.5 pressure washer. It's getting harder and harder to start. And if I do start it,it will work for a little bit and than shut down! Is it just time to get a new one? I had it for 5 years but got it used.
Do a full service on it , new spark plug /air filter foam , full oil change , also chane the oil in the pump end , carefully remove the carb bowl and remove any dirt/rust/water etc
ive seen gx160 engines last 10 years no problem and those were hire machines
hope this helps if it does please vote
Ensure that the oil level is at the very top of filler hole this unit has a oil alert which can trigger the ignition coil to shut down before reaches an unsafe level if it continues remove the yellow wire from sensor if it runs well afterwards replacement of oil alert sensor is required, this switch can also stick from old oil residue or sludge.
