A doorbell with a mind of its own?

Try this one, which has stumped me! My wireless doorbell (purchased new a month ago) worked fine for a month, then stopped ringing when the button was pushed. It's correctly installed, not near metal, receiver close by, and batteries are okay. Nothing else changed.

Next day, the doorbell worked, just as before. Then it went off again a day later, again with nothing changing. A day after that (today) it works once again. Tomorrow, who knows?

Unless there's something supernatural going on, this one's got me beat. Any thoughts?

I changed the batteries in my Jacob Jenson doorbell and now it doesn't work. What should I do

Try another set of brand new Duracell batteries and make sure they are inserted correctly. If the Doorbell is wireless as many are these days, it may need pairing. There are settings so that if next door has the same bell, you can use different channels.

The doorbell buttons and your receiver must be on the same channel. If you will get out the directions that came with your unit, they will describe the process to go through to reset the specific "codes" for your buttons and receiver.

Wired doorbell. Trying to connect to pre-existing one.

Start here

Locate and check the doorbell system transformer for power. There should be about 24 volts A/C on the secondary side (the side with the smaller exposed wires that go to your doorbell).

The doorbells at the doors are just switches and it sounds like you have already tested them correctly by touching the wires together.

It sounds like a power issue - your electrician may have just disonnected the power wiring after installing the wireless system which would have been the right thing to do.

Doorbell frequencies.

Check the reciever (ringer) as well, it will have to be set to match what you do to the transmitter (the doorbell button)
