Khms155lss1 procedure for changing door handle.

I have had my microwave oven for 2 years. The handle broke off and I would like to replace it. I am pleased with the operation of the oven but have not been pleased with the assembly.

When I popped of the vent to clean it, one of the plastic hinges also broke off.

I have the same problem with this microwave. The handle broke off and the vent hidges came completely off. Now I have to replace both the door handle and the vent fixture. The microwave works fine but the assembly and parts are pooly made. Have you found the handle part online?

The vent has broken on our microwave to. I was told by kitchen-aid it was going to cost $110-150 for this piece of plastic! Does anyone know somewhere I can find one cheaper.

The handle can only be changed by separating the outer and inner shells of the door. You can pull the outer shell off the inner shell by removing the three screws at the end of the door and then using firm force to pull the shells apart. It helps to gently pry along the bottom, top and inside (nearest the hinges) with a thin flathead screwdriver or other very thin metal object. You don't have to get it all the way loose; just a little is fine. You can then use the two clasps on the back of the door (that hold it shut when it's closed) to pull with. I found that inserting a slim screwdriver into the lower clasp and using that as a handle (not a lever!) gives you a better grip. Hold the outer shell of the door with your left hand while pulling the inner shell in the opposite direction. Be carefull not to twist or bend the clasps; they are plastic and will break. The shells will pull apart and then you can access the screws that hold the handle. Change the handle then press the door shells back together. Make sure they are snug all around. Replace the three end screws and you're done.

I have a Kenmore microwave, model 721.62649200. The Handle to the door just broke off. I can find places online to buy a new handle, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to take the door...

I have a similar unit and I removed the outside of the door by loosening two flat head screws on the narrow where the handle is located. There are several screws yet holding the outside plastic housing too. Once these are removed the plastic door will come off. Then the handle will be accessible.
The same issue started with my oven too and I replaced the original handle with larger screws and using a high quality plastic glue.
This held for a while. The plastic door cover seemed to have changed dimensions during its life and warped. I ordered a new door and it lasted a short while. I then asked for a new door under warranty.
Bottom line they wouldn't sent a new cover but they returned my money. Apparently the doors all had crappy plastic issues. Currently we are using the microwave with out the door front. It still works like new after 10 years though.

Door handle came off

To replace the handle the door needs to be split. Carefully remove the screws that hold it together and then prise the parts apart to gain access to the screws for the handle. Take care. The insides of the door are treated with anti radiation material and this should not be damaged. The door seal must also be treated with care for the same reason. You did not mention the model of your unit, so I take it that this is the correct procedure for your specific machine.

Our GE Profile spacemaker 2.0 handle is broken. How can I change it?

The door handle can easily be replaced on MOST microwave ovens by removing the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. The following link explains how to access and replace the door handle:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3696942-microwave_oven_door_handle_replacement

The average cost for a replacement handle usually runs about $20 - $40. Replacements may be purchased at the websites listed in the link I provided.

The door handle is a simple repair that can be done with the door in place, or with the door removed. You do not have to uninstall the oven if this is an over the range model.

If you have any questions, please post back with your MODEL NUMBER and let me know. I hope this helps you

I got the screws off for the door handle on the ACO1860AS Microwave but the handle will still not come off. Is there another mechanisme or hidden screw that needs to come out?

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here that demonstrates how it's done.

From the service manual:

Door Disassembly

1. Disconnect power to oven and remove oven door,
(see "Door Removal" procedure).

2. Pry away choke cover, by placing a tool in the upper
right corner of the door and gently prying outward on
the choke cover. Continue to work around the door
casing until choke cover is completely loose.

3. Slide latch assembly upward and to the left to
release plastic tabs from door frame. Once latch
assembly is loose the spring may be disconnected
from the door frame.

4. Remove screws securing door handle and door
frame to door panel.

5. Remove door frame by releasing tabs around entire
door panel.

Remove door handle by placing a hand on door panel
next to the top of the door handle. Twist door panel
towards the inside of door and pulling on the top
portion of the door handle in a quick jerking motion.

NOTE: When replacing door handle, the bottom portion
of the door handle must be inserted first.

Kitchenaide KHMS155LSS Microwave F2 apears on screen

"F2" means your membrane keypad is shorting.

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and of course, never leave an oven cooking unattended.

You can order the control panel frame assembly with a keypad already installed here .

You can also find handy exploded views there. Just do a search by full your model number (KHMS155LSS1, KHMS155LSS2, KHMS155LSS3, KHMS155LSS4, etc.).

You first unplug the oven and remove your control panel assembly as per the video at our site.

Then disconnect the keypad strip as per the picture below.

40716d4.jpg
Then you take out the screws holding your circuit board to the old frame and put it in your new frame

Be careful, since the display is glass.

Reassembly is the reverse of disassembly.

Need to Replace Door Handle for KitchenAid Over Range Microwave Hood Combo KHMS147KSS

Check out this door frame diagram, specifically number 1805. It clips on to the door frame. Remove it using a dull table knife or something similar (be careful not to scratch or break anything). You will then have access to the bottom screw.
