Touchpad not working

My touchpad has been getting less & less sensitive until today I've been able to deal with it. Today, no matter how I touch it rub it using my nail, skin, etc... anywhere on the pad does not work. I've reset several times, connected to computer, deleted, added new songs all in hope of remedying the non responsive touchpad. All I'm able to use is the 1st item on each screen for example Music -> Artists -> 1st ARTIST then ALL songs by the artist... Kindly advise... Thanks for listening. Tom

Yes, I have the same problem. The inner pad does not work, but the outside ring works fine. I can play songs, but I cannot access the rest of the menu(pictures, playlist, shuffle, settings, etc. Would appreciate any help you can give. Thanks.

If you have a wireless mouse or a USB mouse plug in and get online to find a downloadable driver for your touch-pad. A lot of file adding and shifting with a touch-pad can get the system fragmented (Defragging may help) and driver files, .dll's, and others your touch-pad needs and uses can get buried in the clutter (file fragments) all over the floor so-to-speak. If defragmentation of your hard drive doesn't work just download new drivers. Here is a safe Download link to look in. There is just about everything here, free and safe too...

SOURCE: Ipod doesn't show music in artists, only in albums.

Go to Get Info and unclick "Compilation". If it's a compilation it won't show the different artist, which is actually a cool idea.

Gateway the touch pad not function why?

Adjusting the touchpad sensitivity on a Gateway laptop lets you fix and prevent annoying touchpad problems.
Often the touchpad is accidentally brushed while typing, which causes the cursor to move out of place.
Or you may find yourself having to tap too hard or too often on the touchpad to open windows and programs.
These problems can be fixed by simply adjusting the touchpad's sensitivity settings.
Click the "Start" button and double-click "Control Panel."
Double-click "Hardware & Sound" and choose "Mouse" to open the mouse properties box.

Choose the "Device Settings" tab. Highlight "Synaptic Touchpad" in the Devices box by clicking on it. Click the "Settings" button underneath the Devices box.
Choose "Sensitivity" in the properties settings box.
Click "PalmCheck" to adjust the sensitivity of the touchpad to accidental brushes against the pad while typing, which causes the cursor to move.
Click and hold the pointer to adjust the setting on the sensitivity scale.

Click "Touch Sensitivity" to adjust the sensitivity of the touchpad to tapping.
Click and hold the pointer to adjust the setting on the sensitivity scale.
A higher rating on the scale means less tapping pressure will be needed.

Click "OK" to save your touchpad settings.

Dell xps m1330 vista home curser jumps when typing

Have you loaded your touchpad drivers? The only time I've ever seen than happen is when the touchpad drivers aren't loaded. The touch is extra sensitive if your palm(s) just barely touch the pad.

By loading the touchpad drivers, you should be all set

How do i adjust the sensitivity of my touch pad for my Toshiba laptop PSLB8U-05202F

1.Turn on the computer and log into Windows as normal. Open the "Start" menu and click on the option labeled "Control Panel."
2.Double-click on the icon labeled "Mouse.". The "Mouse Properties" window will open. Navigate to the tab labeled "Device Settings." Click on the button labeled "Settings." A window labeled "Properties" will appear.
3.Examine the left panel of the "Properties" window and expand the option labeled "Sensitivity." Click on the option labeled "Touch Sensitivity."
4.Reduce the touch sensitivity setting by moving the slider to the right, towards the "Heavy Touch" label. Experiment with different levels of sensitivity until you find one suited to your needs.
5.Click on the button labeled "OK" to close the "Properties" window; repeat with the "Mouse" control panel. Your new touchpad sensitivity settings are now saved.

My acer aspire 5742Z touchpad is too sensitive or I don't really know how to use it. Every time I touch it something stupid happens on screen. Now it has turned my screen dispay side on and I have to use...

Definitely your touchpad is TOO SENSITIVE!
To modify the sensitivity just go
START > CONTROL PANEL > MOUSE/TOUCHPAD and adjust there the sensitivity by dragging the cursor to the LEFT until it reaches the middle.
In PROPERTIES just re-invert the functions of your touchpad to get rid of the mixed axes.

The cursor jumps from line or field on its own...I could typing away and before I know it, the cursor has moved to another field or to the middle of another word! real pain in the ****

You will probably want to adjust the pressure sensitivity on your laptop's touch pad to alleviate this problem. If you have Windows, enter the control panel from the start menu.

1. START > Control Panel
2. Find Mouse or Pointing Devices.
3. Enter the Pointing Devices Control Panel.
Things can vary a bit in this section. So you should look for anything that deals with Pressure settings or Pointing Settings. One setting should be labeled "Touch Sensitivity." This setting controls how much pressure is required on the touch pad.
-If you move the setting lower (or move the slider to the left) this decreases the sensitivity. It is harder to accidently move the cursor if you brush the touchpad while typing.
-If you move the setting higher (or move the slider to the right) this increases the sensitivity. It is easier to accidently move the cursor if you brush the touchpad while typing.
(Note that in some configurations, these are opposite - left to increase senstivity and right to decrease sensitivity).

Depending on your laptop there may also be a setting labeled Touchpad Pressure. It's a setting that resgisters if you are accidently leaning on the touch pad. It's designed to reduce the chance of accidental clicks or motions. This setting is generally controlled the same way the Touchpad Sensitivity setting is controlled, through left-right sliders. I've found that keeping the touchpad sensitivity low makes it easier to avoid accidental cursor motions. I also keep the Pressure setting relatively high as well. One thing you'll note that if you adjust these settings to far into one extreme or the other, you will have difficulty using your touchpad. Fine tune these two setting until you achieve the results you want.

I have a Dell laptop computer with Windows Vista Basic. The mouse on the screen has become very sensitive and sometimes it clicks on an item when it scrolls across the screen. How can I make it less...

  1. Right-click on the desktop and select Personalize > Mouse Pointers . The Mouse Properties settings window will open.
  2. Alternately, click Start and type Mouse in the Search field, and select Mouse when it becomes available in the program list. The Mouse Properties settings window will open.
  3. Select the Device Settings tab. Select the Synaptics TouchPad device and click Settings . In the Properties for Synaptics TouchPad window, expand the Sensitivity topic.
  4. Select the PalmCheck option to adjust the sensitivity of the touchpad to avoid erratic cursor movement caused by accidental touching of the pad during normal typing.
  5. Select the Touch Sensitivity option to adjust how much finger pressure is required to move the mouse on the screen and how responsive the touchpad is to taps.

If you reinstalled the drivers then most like there is a problem with the touch pad its self. If you are still under warranty I would call Dell Tech Support to get the touch pad replaced on the system.

My inspiron 1525 has a keyboard problem everytime i am typing it jumps back do you have any idea what's going on?

I've been struggling with this issue as well. I type really fast so I thought i was inadvertantly hitting the touchpad and moving the cursor. Maybe, maybe not. But today I discovered that changing one of the dafault settings for the touchpad has eliminating the jumping cursor trouble and I can type fast again without constantly checking my screen to see which line I'm actually typing in.

Here's what I did: Go to the control panel and the mouse and click on the icon for the touchpad and uncheck the touchpad setting "tap to click"

I also put my speed and sensitivity about in the mid-range. (Another suggestion that didn't work was to make my touchpad less sensitive).

Happy typing!

Acerr Aspire 5315-2940

I don't know if you mean that your cursor suddenly moves as you are typing? If so, it is likely your touch pad is too sensitive. I have a mouse w/mouse pad but never disabled the touch pad. So i disabled the touch pad and it solved it for me. If you want to be sure it is the touch pad being over sensitive, then type a paragraph but keep your fingers and palms far away from the touch pad. If the problem improves, like it did for me, then the touchpad is too sensitive. You can go into the settings for the touchpad to change the sensitivity setting to make it less senstive and see if that works and it does not then press Fn +F7 keys to disable the touchpad.
