JOBO GIGA One Ultra 80gb will not be recognized as a hard drive by either PC or Mac. Also when I try to back up a CF card to the unit I get an error. I'm suspecting that the units HD is not formatted according to the FAT32 that is required by the Manufacturer specs, but I can't get a computer to recognize it so I can reformat. GOT ANY ideas? thanks

Why don't you try to format your external drive. There's a variety of options where you can format it. The first one is Go to the My Computer then Right Click on the Icon of your External Drive then Select Format, it is better to select full erase of the the drive.

80gb ultra travel drive is not recognized by computer when the hard drive is attaced to it. the main board is just fin that plugs into the usb but when I attach the hard drive to it the computer no longer...

One thing is if the drive draws more than the alloted .5 amp from the USB it the motherboard will turn off the power. SOME of these drives require a 5 volt external power supply. Some of them rob two USB ports to get adequate power.

Giga ONe hard drive reformat

You can format your giga one hard drive in MS-Dos mode.
1. Go to Start--> Run
2. type CMD to enter the DOS
3. select the giga one drive path (i.e. if it shows as E drive then simply write E: in DOS and hit enter.
4. type format
thats all that you have to do to format the giga one drive.

Lost 40Gb of photos-7Gb not lost.

First of, I suggest you use USB Flash Drives of High Value., like 500 to 1G. Or a second Hard Drive 2G.
If you lost 40G of data, it is gone. Just remember to use the EJECT format to remove all external devices. If you do not, you can loose data.

Fromating Giga one

you need to go to the jobo site, find the driver/software/service link, in that you will find the giga one formatting tool, download and use that. i had the same problem when i purchased my original giga one, i used windows to format the drive - but as people find out windows is unable to format the drive correctly ie fat 32, and you then get an error message. in the formatting tool it tells you why what the different error codes are and error 1 means drive not formatted to fat 32, im not sure how old your giga one is but when i purchased mine approx 4yrs ago it never came with a proper manual and there was no support on the jobo site at the time. I think a lot of these minor problems could be avoided if it came with a manual and explained whats needed to clear the internal hard drive

Rio CE2100

You may have broken the hard drive,

Try replacing it with a CF card,

Everybody says that this does not work but it definitely does!

My Rio got dropped and I completely buggered the hard drive so after reading many forums saying that it didn't work I read one that said that someone had told them that sandisk ultra II ones worked (very vague!)

Because I had nothing to lose I went out and bought a 1GB sandisk Ultra II CF card. I then took apart my rio and replaced the hard drive with the CF card. Still not thinking it was going to work I plugged it into my computer and installed the latest firmware (from the rio website) and then HEY PRESTO!!!!!! it works.

I have yet to try an 8GB ultra II card but when I do i will keep you posted.

If you don't believe me then I don't blame you but If you send me a request then I can send you pictures and more details...

Rio will live on

Hope this helps
