Machine will not record incoming mesages or even let me know I have a message.
If I am away from my machine and want to call my answering machine and hear the messages what do I do. Lost my manual.
I have no manual, how do i set time and date/

Just hold down the setting key for a few seconds and you will be able to change your specifications.
I WANTED PROGRAM MY VOICE MESSAGE
GE 29878GE2-B Digital Messaging System. Does not record any of my messages anymore. System gets cut off after about 2 seconds while other party is trying to leave me a message. I have done a reset and changed the battery, still not working.

I am having the same problems with mine. Just bought it and it will not record a message. Tried to get support from the GE website and when I entered all my info and clicked submit, it said webpage could not be found.
I am having the same problem and I suspect it has something to do with my DSL line, but I can't find anything about it on the web.
Do not have DSL but our 29875GE1-B intermittently does not record messages.
Machine worked fine for 2 weeks and then just stopped recording messages. I have unplugged machine (according to manual) to reset (have done this twice) and that didn't work. Have also tried to re-set using "next" button and "stop/set" button numerous times. That didn't work either.
Just stopped working after 2-3 years. Everything else is as before. I've not turned the option off and the outgoing message works. Battery and mains power is fine. Any ideas anyone?
