When I start my HP Compaq nc6120 I see the message to make back-up. I tried once but without effect. If I update the BIOS this will solve the problem? Give me an advice, please!

If your laptop is new and you have never taken a backup disc, you may receive this alert. The backup disc is to help at times when your hard disk crashes and the recovery partition gets destroyed, you can safely reinstall from the Factory backup disc. And BIOS has no link with this issue. You need not update the BIOS.

Hi, Hang at start up logo may cause by hardware.
You can try to take out hard disk first. See weather it can go through the start up like normal or not. If cannot, try put the hard disk back and take out the CD/DVD ROM. And try again to start the notebook.
If the problem still remain, your motherboard problem. Change it but it might costly.

Bios update killed my machine

you disable shadow and caching in bios at boot ...
at startup you need to hit f10 (modeels may vary)to enter setup(bios)
in bios make required changes save and exit.

Bios shutdown

Mike:   Look in your manual to see how to get to the BIOS setup screen. Find the BIOS shadowing or catching and shut it off.    If you need a manual download it. If you cannot get it going again, doing that . Try using the reload CD's. If you don't have one ,again look in the book and see if it is on the hard drive or wher.e If you need additional help, just ask.
