Single handle tub faucet will not divert to shower head. Tub faucet just sputters water all over, only a dribble comes out of shower head. I took shower head off, but water will still not divert to shower pipe. It comes out for a second but then back to tub faucet. Not sure which Price Pfister model I have. Its a single handle, brushed stainless.

The diverter on the tub spout is bad you need to replace the tub spout or the pull up diverter if its a separate piece if you have the owners manual with a parts diagram you can order it on line from the manufacturer or a plumbing supply store. you will need to unscrew the tub spoup from the wall to do this use a broom handle or something similar inserted inside the spout and turn it to the left to remove it from the wall

SOUNDS LIKE A RUBBER WASHER HAS FAILD , YOU NEED TO OPEN THE TAPS TO INSPECT THE WASHERS AS THEY MIGHT BE BLOCKING THE WATER FLOW .
