I want to use the component wires to hook my dvd player up to the magnavox 27mt5405 and see where the 3 video wires go, but not sure on where the 2 audio's go. To the left where it says mono? or to the right where av1 and av2 are?
For component connection follow the DVD player port mention different color like Green, Blue etc (total 5 cable needed for component connection), all 5 cable connect to the dvd player & tv follows color code

Ur tv have a RCA INPUT holes like Y,R,W INPUT holes from the Front or the Back of the tv wright?Yes.U must buy or have it already a RCA components cable Y,R,W wires.Connected the RCA components cable Y,R,W wires to the DVD player Y,R,W OUTPUT holes and the other end of the RCA components cable wires Y,R,W connected to the tv Y,R,W INPUT holes.Now the tv and DVD player is on ok.Now u playing the DVD player contents Disc and push the INPUT modes on the tv like VIDEO 1 or 2 by the tv remote or manual button on the tv.Now u should have video picture of the DVD Disc contents playing.
honey and guest: connections: Red, white, and yellow composite from out of cable/sat box to in of this dvd, and then a 2nd red , white and yellow cable from out of this player to in on television. Every television calls the correct channel something different - make note of where you plug the r,y,w cables to TV -- it may be labelled video1, video 2, av1, av2, input1, ext 1, etc. Turn tv to correct input/av/source/video channel. if you dont have the audio video imputs RCA jacks on your TV, you can hook it up through a RF MODULATOR you can hook up to any tv this way. they come with instructions as well as the magnavox also shows how to hook one up.
Go to the Sylvania/Emerson web site and you can download the entire manual for free. If you hooked it up and it doesn't work right, make sure you have the TV on the correct channel. Either ch 3 or 4. the other problem might be you hooked it up with component or composite cables and are not setting your TV on AV. Audio/Video channel.
