These utilize a jumper connector(scs) in order to retrieve codes. It's location is just a little different for different models of hondas and acuras but generally speaking there relative to one location. On your car if you go to passenger front seat area and find the lower rt hand kick panel(to rt of your foot if sitting in seat)reach your hand just to the top edge of the panel you'll find a small blue 2pin connector.sometimes its got a small piece of tape holding it loosely to a wire cluster ,just pull it free of tape. With ignition key in off position, jump terminals together at connector with jumper wire, paper clip works fine. With jumper installed turn ignition switch into on position, not start just in run position.Observe check engine light. If DTC is stored check engine light will flash in series of pulses which are numbers of DTC. One long pulse is equal to ten, short pulses equal to one, example would be one long pulse pause followed by 2 quick flashes.this would be code 12 (EGR Problem). It will repeat this set of flashes 3 times, with long long pause between each.if multiple dtc are stored each DTC will be shown once, one rt after other, than will repeat series set over again for three series repeats then light will stop flashing.
NOTE:As i was saying about scs location,it is always found on Hondas/Acuras on passenger side seat area.it will be in one of following spots. 1.at back top edge of carpet where it meets up to dash area,to back edge of (ft side)center console piece(by left foot),behind rt kick panel as above or where lower hinge side if glove box meets dash, resting in that seam.always blue or grey 2 pin connector not connected to anything.Good Luck!joel
SOURCE: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT
you have a sensor on your transmission that tells that speedometer to work and well of course you already know the millage wont work because that speedometer sensor isnt working correctly, as far as the engine light i wouldnt think that that is linked to the speadometer, but have it checked. goodluck
