SOURCE: ryobi spare parts

Hi there,

Unless you have the part in hand, which you could take to a specialized machinery or spring supplier to see if they could match it up, the only other way to get the correct part is to contact ryobi direct and talk to their parts department. They will be able to tell you the part number, and if available, send you one out direct from their warehouses.

Good Luck!

Testimonial: "Thank you very much for taking time to help! I have phoned Bunnings who I think are now the only suppliers of Ryobi in AU who are sending a spare. "

SOURCE: Manual for 1950 Craftsman Drill Press

Not sure if you ever found the manual for this model number. I just picked one up at a garage sale last weekend and it actualy had the manual with it. Doesn't really go into any overhaul of the machine, but does have a exploded view of the parts.b329678.jpg

SOURCE: I have a Mastercraft drill

Hello Jo Ray. The chuck is friction fit. To reinstall it you may need an assistant. Put the chuck on the spindle, have your assistant hold it while you hit it using a block of wood against the chuck and a hammer. A couple of good blows and the chuck will be installed. Regarding the spring, go to this link and select the canadian tire store closest to you to get the part. http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/NavigationAssortments/WebStore/Navigation/FooterNavigation/BusinessLinks/Section1/CustomerService.jsp

Need a chuck key for model 1140b,f powermatic drill press, manual part number 6285469.

There are only a few sizes of chuck key. Easiest thing to do is first find a drill bit that fits in the hole where the key goes to determine the size of the pin on the end of the key. (Use the back end of the drill bit.) Then take any other chuck key you have and see how closely it fits or doesn't fit - just as a reference. Take the reference chuck key and the drill bit with you to Sears or any place that sells a good assortment of tools. You will probably be able to determine the correct size key from what they have available very easily. Good luck, Al K

I have a Guardian Power floor model drill press. The spindle will not retract. I would appreciate knowing how to fix this and where I can get parts. Thank you. Bill Powell

Can you move the spindle up and down with the handle? If you can't make sure the spindle lock is not on. Is the spindle clean and rust free , well lubed? Here is a link to a manual for your drill press: http://www.dewaltservicenet.com/Products/ProductManual.aspx?q=15-331 You can order parts here. Usually the return spring can be adjusted with a nut on the left side of press. Possilby the return spring could be broken.

Return spring not working

The return spring is usually up on the side, and is just like a big watch spring, wound up in there, take off the cover, it is probably broken, or maybe just slipped out of it's keeper. If it is broken on the end, you won't be able to bend it with out a torch, get the end red hot and put it in a vise and whack it with a hammer. If it is broken in the middle, you can weld it with an arc rod and a torch, bust off the flux, weld it together and let it air cool. Or you can find a new one.

thats the diagram and parts listing for the only available powermatic drill press ( 2800) , if its an older model you might find the parts on ebay , i have in the past used a recoil starter spring but it can be a pain to modify the spring to suit .

hope this helps , if it does please vote :)

The chuck will not return to the up position

On the left side, facing the drill press, opposite the spindle crank there should be a return spring in a housing. If spring is not broken, you can increase the spring tension so it will raise the spindle. If it doesn't, take the spring apart and see if it is not broken, or has become detatched.
