Treat yourself to a mulicard reader. Ensure it reads the Sony memory stick your camera uses. It should come with a USB cable to connect the reader to your PC.
They're not terribly expensive, photo retailers or ebay should be able to supply.
are you connecting to the same USB slot you use to connect before?
Check from the BIOS of your computer is USB port is enabled.
or go to My computer then right click, choose Properties, then select Hardware > Device Manager. Look for the Universal Serials Bus Controllers, then expand. Find the usb port right click on it> select disable.

If the camera connects, there is a USB driver problem on your PC. If not...
Your camera has a blown fuse on it`s serial communications line. Contact your nearest Sony dealer and take the camera for repair.
If they only have to replace the fuse it should be quite inexpensive, if not and they need to replace the main board you should first determine the value of your camera and then look at the cost of a new model.
