I have a northgate WALAMD200A, the power went down and now it refuses to start up, cutting off in a few seconds and restarting. It goes to screen asking if Normal start up or safe start up but my key board will not work on this page. It does work on the sys page when I hit F10.

Unplug it and wait a bit, then retry.
If it fails again:
-an internal fan might be stuck, causing the thing to shut down out of caution
-the BIOS battery might have given up the ghost
-a chipset heatsink might have fallen off and need some care
-the power supply might be toast (swap for a good spare of adequate wattage and retry)
-maybe your videocard just got unseated because of cable buggering, just set it back

I would make sure that the screen is cutting power in clamshell mode. These are prone to overheating and it might be cooking your processor. Get SMC fan controller to boost your fans if you feel it getting warm often.

Starts then cuts off and won't restart

Hello; This is likely a carb problem or clogged fuel line or fuel filter if it has one. If it runs for awhile before cutting out, check your gas cap. They all have some sort of vent to let in air as the fuel level goes down. If the vent is clogged, the carb can only **** out the gas for seconds or a few minutes. john

My Acer AL2216W monitor this morning went blank. I woke up, turned on pc and went to sleep like an hour more, when I woke up, the screen was black and light orange, as usual, when pc is not used for a...

Go to Control Panel, (top right View Small Icons). Then look for Power Options. On this page, you'll have the option to leave the monitor on. You should also check "Advanced Power Options". Don't be afraid of the word, "Advanced." It only means "customizeable"

If your mouse isn't waking your monitor, try the keyboard's space bar. I found it works better than the mouse at waking a sleeping computer

I have a northgate protek computer and get an error that win32 is corrupt computer will not start up. How can I access to restart program. Tried to start by pressing F9 to reboot.

During the boot process you will see on the screen to press delete to enter setup
Press and hold delete during the boot up process to enter BIOS you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults ,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart then
once you have your computer running try uninstalling a few unnecessary programs then click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to fix any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive then defragment your hard drive then you might test all leads that are attached from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) or just replace them there probably old and faulty
hope this helps

there is something wrong with the video driver or the monitor...If the screen shows something like the devices when it boots up...and only goes blak when it logs to windows...I mean if you see all on the screen until you get to the windows logo..this is a operating system error ..a driver seting or crash...so ...just reinstall it ..or repair the operation system ..cause if it is a setting on video driver or a error ..you can not fix it if you do not see anything ..
if the system boots but you never see a thing on the monitor...not even the writen devices when it first starts..or the bios..this means that the screen or the ribbon of the monitor has a damage on..try to change its position...or so ..but in this case you will need a ribbon for sure ...

Black Screen

Thinking about this one I really think the video had nothing to do with the black screen. I would try to things one is reset the power management. Not know exactly what Powerbook you have I will give the most common way. Remove the Battery and the power cord from the powerbook, wait a few minutes then hold the power button for about 40 seconds. Then put the battery and power cord back in and restart it. The second thing to do is boot from the install disk that came with it and run the disk utility. I have also seen bad RAM do this but you would get at least a chime on startup.

Sony laptop

You probably have the "go to sleep" timeout set too low. Check out "Power Options" in the control panel.
