If the screen is black, the problem can be in the backlight inverter board or the main power supply. You can download the service manual here:

Very not likely to be the backlight lamps. Please post back what you find.
If your Polariod FLM 2610 wont turn on or takes several tries to turn on, take out the power supply and replace the two 1000uf 35 VDC capacitors near the coil on the power supply. Then it will work fine. You can get them at Radio Shack. If you don't know how to de-solder and solder find a friend that does. It not hard, you just have to remove a lot of screws, take off the stand, all the permiter screws the about six little screws on the back. You need to take off the two screws holding the input jack card in and unplug it to get to the two back screws under the inputs.
