I FORMATTED MY HARD DRIVE AND REINSTALLED WXP HOME EDIT. AND I CANT GET TO THE INTERNET MY DEVICE MANAGER SAYS ETHERNET CONTROLLER SOFTWARE NOT FOUND. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED, THANKS TOM EMACHINES T3256 IS WHAT IM WORKING WITH.

You will have to open up your network connections. Click start control panel network connections this may vary depending on your operating system look for local area connection if you see a red x or a yellow exclamation or question mark you will need to update or install the driver or it could be firewalled. Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager look for network adapters + expand Ethernet driver if you see a yellow Question / Exclamation mark ? ! or a Red X you will need to update/reinstall the driver for the device You only need check the following if you cant install the driver Make sure you Ethernet/internet is enabled in bios. Restart your computer during the boot up process you will see on your screen a certain key to press to enter set up (BIOS) press and hold that key to enter bios using arrow keys scroll to intergrated peripherals look for SiS On Chip Pci Device press Enter make sure its enabled then recheck the driveri t should be there k the driver it should be there make sure its enabledPci device arrows key scroll to nstalled if you computer came with a motherboard disk the driver could be on it or this disk provided by your ISP provider Internet Service Provider or you might have to download one http://download.cnet.com/wireless-atheros-ar5b91-7/3000-2112_4-202570.html http://download.cnet.com/Realtek-RTL8139-Family-PCI-Fast-Ethernet-NIC/3000-2112_4-91313.html if these packages are not the right http://download.cnet.com/2000-20_4.html On the home page you should see a search tab just type in what you are looking for tick in the box for windows software or all software box IE: Motherboard name Wireless or Ethernet driver you might have to try a few times to get it right

click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down universal serial bus controllers you should see a yellow question mark?

right click to reinstall drivers

if you can see your usb drive but its not working

ports(com&lpt)right click update driver

click start click on my computer you should see your pen drive

right click then select format

another way is to control panel administrive tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select format

U have a driver issue for the lan chip that is on the mo bo. Go to web site of mo bo or Aspire for download.

Pleasse reinstall your NIC driver (Network Interface Card). Check your device manager for make and model of your NIC. Download the proper driver to some other computer and put it on a disk which will work in your unknown computer (floppy if available, CD if no floppy)

Im guessing u have an Acer pc, do u know which model is it? we need it to look for the correct driver. Did u formated ur pc at any time? maybe thats why u dont have that program.

WD says the software can manage several devices, so I think you don't need to reinstall... unless you got a newer version of the software, which would be able to manage the previous device.

To be really sure, start using the new device with the old software and see how it goes. You can always reinstall the software later.

this is any suggestion i have for u :)

install your sound driver manually.

go to control panel -->doble click system->click device manager->right click the sound device, update the driver then..

note :
(check the ethernet controller is that working properly?.. if not u need to update or reinstall the device first before update/reinstall any sound device)

Right-click the My Computer icon and select Manage, then go to the Device Manager in the list on the left and find the Network Adapter from the list on the right, right-click Network Adapter and select Uninstall. When you reboot, XP should find the Adapter and reinstall it automatically. Another reboot may be required.

If it still will not connect, go to the NIC Manufacturer's website and download the driver to removable media. The Driver Update option can be accessed in the Device Manager, but this time select Properties when you right-click the Network Adapter, and go to the Driver tab.

i hope u re install your operating system,
after the re installation u did not install the drivers that is the reson, best way u buy an ethernet card and try to get net connection and down load the drivers from dell.com ,then remove the card ,thats it.
