I am having the same problem as well the light flashes 7 times.

  • Anonymous Jan 21, 2008

tonight - the same problem - rpower button's red light blinks 7x, pauses, then repeats. I've had the th-42pz77u for over three months. Tried unpluging the power cord to reset the set, but no joy. From other posts, this indicates a failed power supply.

  • fraggy Jan 27, 2008

Have the exact same problem on my replacement set. Have just over a month. Yes, red power button blinks 7 times.

  • lizp Jan 31, 2008

Yep, same as these guys. Purchased TV in December 2007, installed on Dec 17 2007. Today, Jan 30, tried to turn on TV, nothing happens, but red lights blinks 7 times, pauses, and blinks 7 times. We've tried unpluggin the TV for a while, but no go.

  • MILLENNA Feb 03, 2008

BOUGHT THIS TV ONE WEEK BEFORE XMAS 07 AND TODAY THE SCREEN WENT BLACK WITH A POP SOUND. AND THE RED LIGHT BLINKS. JUST GREAT AS THE SUPER BOWL IS ONLY 13 HOURS AWAY. I DID BUY THE SEARS SERVICE PLAN, OR DO I HAVE TO CALL PANASONIC? I WILL HAVE TO WAIT UNTILL MONDAY TO CALL. AND NOW I HAVE NO TV , AND I JUST GOT AN HD BOX LAST WEEK.

Have the same problem.....sounds like it's going to turn on....then power light flashes 7 times. Unplugging doesn't help. Called Panasonic and they're sending someone in 6 days. Have had the TV less than 3 months.

  • fraggy Feb 08, 2008

Panasonic attempted to fix my set under the warranty, and the replacement card had the same problem. This is the third failure my set has experience with the exact same problem. Been weeks without set pending Panasonic warranty service. So the real solution even with Panasonic repairing is still in question.

same thing as everyone else. I have had my th-42pz77u since Dec 07. Watched tv just fine yesturday afternoon and last night it just wouldn't turn on. The light blinks 7 times then pauses and 7 more. Contoller doesn't do anything and very irratated that a $1300 tv breaks after 3 months and i have a RCA 32 inch tube that is 10 years old and works perfect

I will never by Panasonic again or shop at leons again unless I get much better servie this time than I did last.

Bought our TV dec 26 , 2008, this is our second time it has broken down, not impressed and told Panasonic and leons, if i don't get better service this time, this small community is going to hear about it, disgusted with both of them and as I said, no better service this time, they will be sorry about my advertising about both Leons and panasonic., Very frustrated.

7 Blinking lights on TH-42PZ77U, won't turn on. Bought 2-1-08, used infrequently, should have used more so it would have broken earlier since it looks like this is a very common problem.

Pin 93 of the MPU IC9003 monitors the status of the SC, SU, SD board. During normal operation, the photo-coupler PC6480 outputs a low to pin 93. If the SC, SU, or SD board becomes defective, a high is provided to pin 93. As a result, the unit shuts down and the power LED blinks 7 times.

We have a Panasonic Hi Def TV Model #TH-42PZ77U. We have same problem w/blinking and not picture. Can't use DVD or VCR even as screen is black, but we have 10 blinks, not 7. Is there anything you can suggest? Husband has Alzheimers and I have cancer and we're old, so this is just what I need! It's no longer under warranty but has been very gently used. Would it be cheaper to order part and then ask someone to install or are there any hot buttons, so to speak, to say to Panasonic or Sears (where purchased) to get them to do it at a lower price since there seems to be slew of problems w/these boards.

I had the same problem. I called the 'authorized repair shop' and they came out, picked up the TV and fixed it. After it was fixed, it never happened again.
It's still one of the most awesome TV's on the market, so I'm cool with it.   Turns out there's a specific board that was built into it that needs to be replaced. Seems to me like they should do a recall on it to have that board repaired, but they didn't because it doesn't doesn't seem to happen to everybody.

TXNSC1NZTU (SU CARD), TXNSD1NZTU (SD CARD) and TXNSS1NZTU (SS card) ordered on 24 Jan buy BestBuy tech. Hour after Super Super Bowl, automated message indicating unknown delay in delivery of the cards. (Ouch!) Has anyone else with this failure had luck (or not) with this repair?

  • Anonymous Mar 01, 2008

Plasma finally repaired 5 weeks after failure. One large board with two large heat sinks running vertical was replaced. At first power up TV came up instantly. No adjustments or alignments necessary. BB techs great; BB service worst ever - WORST! Consider purchasing extended warantee through Panasonic vice a store like BB.

Ditto here. Bought the PZ77U 11/07
today, 2/9/08 blinking light 7 times no picture. Panasonic sending someone out in 3 days "he can/will fix it" is all I got, she seemed to recognize the "7 blinking light" problem....

Panasonic th-42pz77u has no picture.power light (red) flashes 7 times

seven blinks on this model is the SC board. it will need a new SC board and the software update for the new board. usually only authorized servicers have the software need to do the upgrade. but if you were to contact panasonic then they might be able to have it fixed for you for free since this was a defect in manufacturing. of course this depends on how long you have had the tv.

(panasonic TH-42PZ77U plasma) the tv will power on but before the picture comes up it powers back off. Red power light is flashing.

in protective mode the tv does not turn on and light is blinking, typically we must proceed by elimination as some faulty sections are preventing the tv to switch on. unplug the output power connectors from the power supply until the latter stop clicking. if it is still clicking after every of the output rail have been disconnected, then the power supply itself is faulty.

hope this helps!
