My Toshiba p105-s6064 display screen is only showing half of my desktop, the other half goes black or flickers various colors. Do I need to replace the display screen or the video card?

Just a quick note, before you go replace the entire screen, make sure it's not just a wiring problem. If so, it doesn't cost as much to replace the wires connecting the screen to the laptop. LCD's are much more expensive!

Flickering, always cause by LCD cable. Change it at any computer shop or service center and its not so expensive

I'm afraid when you see vertical line on an lcd panel, it most likely is screen failure. Ebay has plenty of screen from good companies in Texas. I get most of my screens from Ebay store LCDTECH99. They have the best prices, most screens are under 100 bucks and they ship right away. The Toshiba screen is an easy repair, Only the bezel needs to be removed in most cases. Your Laptop screen has either too much of Moisture in it or the display circuit at the laptop folding place is creating issue. Please take the machine to Toshiba Service Centre and they will do the needful. Any attempts to fix the problem by yourself will worsen the problem and respond quick.

on the back of the LCD is a cable that goes from there to the Motherboard. Try reseating that cable on both ends. If that doesn't fix it then it has to be a problem with either the screen or the cable behind the screen.

It is possible that the HDMI cable is defective. Did you try another cable?

It is also possible that the HDMI port on the TV is failing.

This can be determined by the process of elimination.
