The way to hack a Blu Ray player could be very different from model to model. Fortunately, there is a place where you can find exactly how to hack you are Blu-Ray player to make it region free, and that is the VideoHelp forum. Go to the forum, and then go to the DVD hack section. All you need to do is to type in model of your DVD or Blu Ray player and then search for the hack exclusively for your model. If you are lucky enough, you will find a very detailed instruction to unlock the region code for your player. Just follow the instructions and you should be able to make it within a couple of minutes.
If you want a simpler way to play the region-locked DVD, you can download a region free DVD player program on your PC and then you can simply insert the DVD and open the DVD with the region-free DVD player. You can try Leawo Blu-ray Player which is a free Blu-ray and DVD player program.

This info I picked up from a kind of hackers site & don't have the said player, so, its hearsay:

You need a region free player or to change the region code to play region 1 [ NTSC formatted USA discs.]. To get your DVD to play NTSC or PAL enter the following commands:

  1. (Press SETUP)
  2. Press "Shift"
  3. Press "Mark"
  4. Press "Stop"
  5. Enter "0,0,0"
  6. Enter "87154"
  7. Press "Shift"
  8. Enter the region or press Fast Forward (for multi region) ....................sodeep

Is there a region code magnavox dv220mw9a

Yes there is a region code built into the dv220mw9a depending on the region where the unit was sold. The version sold in the US will only read region 1 or All region DVDs.

Where was your DVD player purchased and what region code is on the DVDs? Please add a comment with more information on your problem.

I bought a Samsung BD C6900 from USA designed for region 1 and A . Living in Europe I cannot play my european DVDs and BDs ? Are there any solutions to change the region code ?

Here is a solution: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/samsung-bd-c6900/10895

Please note, however, that even after region code hack, it may remain NTSC only, so if you are planning to play European DVDs recorded with PAL system, it may not work.

Baught my PS3 in the sates dont wanna play south african dvds and games

Please go through the booklet provided with your PS3. It will show you what type of DVDs it can play. Make sure that the South African DVDs you are playing are compatible with the one listed in the booklet. Best is to play Blue ray DVD which are slightly expansive but are regional code free. They can be played on PS3 without any hitch.

Hi i was after a no region code for a dvd player!!!

To unlock the DVD code its defends upon what region you belongs or from were you bought the DVD unit. Just click this site to hack the region code ; http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks

To keep it simple, this means that DVD players and DVDs are labeled for operation on within a specific geographical region in the world. For example, the U.S. is in region 1. This means that all DVD players sold in the U.S. are made to region 1 specifications. As a result, region 1 players can only play region 1 discs. That's right, the DVDs themselves are encoded for a specific region. On the back of each DVD package, you will a find a region number (1 thru 6).
The geographical regions are as follows:
REGION 1 -- USA, Canada
REGION 2 -- Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East, Greenland
REGION 3 -- S.Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Parts of South East Asia
REGION 4 -- Australia, New Zealand, Latin America (including Mexico)
REGION 5 -- Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Africa
REGION 6 -- China
REGION 7 -- Reserved for Unspecified Special Use
REGION 8 -- Reserved for Cruise Ships, Airlines, etc...
REGION 0 or REGION ALL -- Discs are uncoded and can be played Worldwide, however, PAL discs must be played in a PAL-compatible unit and NTSC discs must be played in an NTSC-compatible unit.

The end result is that DVDs encoded for regions other than Region 1 cannot be played on a region 1 DVD player, also, players marketed for other regions cannot play region 1-stamped DVDs

Hope it may help you;
