If you've been using your computer to access Facebook, you
might be interested in accessing it while you're on the go with your iPod
Touch, a portable multimedia device made by Apple.
As of May 2011, Apple sells four iPod models (the Shuffle,
the Nano, the Classic and the Touch), of which only the iPod Touch connects to
the Internet.
The iPod Touch has two built-in cameras, and a 3.5-inch
touch-screen display with a virtual keyboard that you use to type messages.
The device connects to the Internet via Wi-Fi, so you can
use Facebook on your iPod Touch with the free Facebook app.
Press the "Home" button on your iPod Touch, located below the screen.
Tap "Settings" on the home screen, and then tap
"Wi-Fi."
Tap the "Wi-Fi" option setting to "On."
Tap the "Ask to Join Networks" option setting to "On."
Move to a location that has Wi-Fi, such as at a business or
home computer network, or a public-access site such as at a shopping mall or
cafe.
Type the password at the prompt if one is required to join a
Wi-Fi network.
Press the "Home" button to return to the home
screen.
Tap the "App Store" icon. Tap
"Search," then type "Facebook" in the search bar, and then
tap "Search." Tap "Facebook" from the results.
Tap the word "Free" in the Facebook app
description screen. Tap "Install."
Type your Apple ID at the prompt.
The Facebook app downloads and installs on your iPod Touch.
Press the "Home" button to return to the home
screen.
Tap the "Facebook" app icon on the home screen.
Type your name and password, and then tap "Go" to
log in to your Facebook account.
Tap the icon of nine squares at the top of the screen to
display Facebook features, such as "Messages," "Photos" or
"News Feed."
Tap "News Feed" to read your News Feed.
Tap "Messages" to see your messages.
Tap the icon of the pen and paper to write a new message.
Tap "Chat" to chat with friends, tap
"Events" to see your events, and tap "Notes" to write a
note.
Tap "Friends" to see your friends, look at
friends' pages and see friends' requests.
Tap "Photos" to see your photos, and tap the plus
sign at the top of the screen to make a new photo album.
Tap "Profile," then tap the camera icon if you
want to upload a photo or video.
Tap "Take Photo or Video," then shoot a picture or
video with your iPod Touch's camera, then tap "Use."
If you shot a picture, tap "Write a Caption."
Type a caption, then tap "Done." Tap
"Upload" to upload the photo to Facebook.
If you shot a video, type a title and a description for the
video, then tap "Upload" to upload the video to Facebook.
Tap "Choose from Library" to use a photo or video
already on your iPod.
A list of your photo albums appears.
Tap an album, and then tap a thumbnail of a video or a
photo.
Type a caption for the picture or a title and description
for a video, and then tap "Upload."
Tap the icon of nine squares at the top of the screen to
return to the list of Facebook features.
