How can I transfer the data from Z222 to window7

Hello de nicola:

I have an entire page devoted just to the Palm Z22, listed below.

Many people report issues with trying to connect the Palm Z22 to new 64 BIT Operating systems like Windows 7 and Windows 8, and although somewhat obscure and time-consuming to set up, this can be done. ONE known software company has a 64 BIT driver, which, when used with other software, can get the SYNC functions working again. Another method is to put a VIRTUAL Windows XP on the Windows 64 BIT Systems, and then SYNC using the already working WIndows XP to get the data from files on the "new" 64 Bit Systems, and back...

I also deal with battery problems, touch screen problems, maintenance, repair, and upkeep issues, so that you may find the page of value! It is at:

http://kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html

I hope this gets your Palm Z22 up and running again, and keeps it that way...

good luck

Lost my Cd to my palm z22. Does any one know were I can download the porgram for my palm. So I can put info on my computer. :)

behoney56:

The information support page for the Palm Z22 has moved around over the past few years. It is now at

http://kb.hpwebos.com/wps/portal/kb/na/zire/z22/unlocked/home/page_en.html

As well, I have an entire web page devoted just to maintaining, repairing, and using the Palm Z22, at:

http://kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.htm

As the Palm Z22 ages, there are issues with old and dying batteries, with the touch screen deforming and becoming useless, and various DATA connectivity issues, since the new Windows 64 BIT Operating Systems did not yet exist when the Z22 was diss-continued.

On my web page are links and USER information on the various solutions that they found, as well as a bit of information that I discovered, which is hitherto unknown!

Hope these tid-bits of help get your Palm Z22 up and running properly...

good luck

I tried to sinc my palm Z22 with my new computer, but It shows that my drivers aren't installed. what's wrong??????????????

Palm as a corporation went out of business years ago, and there are no drivers for the new Microsoft Windows versions that were made AFTER Palm no longer existed! HP (Hewlett Packard) bought the Palm Operating System and has the basic the basic drivers and manuals online, however, only "other" corporations that use various PALM type devices, now support interfacing. I have listed all those that I have found on my web page, dedicated to repairing, maintaining, and interfacing the Z22, at:
kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html
I do not SYNC my Palm at all, so that you will have to rely on all the USER comments that I have included.

The touchscreen of my Z22 is broken

The Z22 is a bullet-proof device for securely saving your personal data, and full marks go to the team at PALM for its solid design. However, the AGE of the Z22, over the last decade, results in 3 problems - the batteries are all dying, and the delicate plastic touchscreen top layer is deteriorating - simply through AGE. When you say the touchscreen is "Broken", I would guess you mean that it does not respond to touch commands from the black plastic stylus that sits in the slot on the back, side, of the unit, when stored. I have never actually seen or heard of a screen that is physically "broken" - like the thousands of iPod, iPhone, Motorola RAZOR, and other touch screen phones that you see today, with cracks running across the broken GLASS. It "Could" happen that the glass screen under the top plastic touch layer is, actually "BROKEN", with the resulting cracks, but this is unlikely, since the trim around the screen is raised a HUGE distance, compared to today's touchscreens.
You can easily replace the screen for $9 if you wait for free shipping from CHINA, or, you can try a few tricks I learned on my Z22 over the years. I have put it in the freezer - which worked temporarily, heated it with a hair dryer - which worked temporarily, and peeled the top plastic layer off the screen- which worked temporarily. I have also replaced the screen with a new one. It is IMPERATIVE to put a hard plastic cover on the Z22 at all times- or you will eventually loose the screen again...
My Z22 page is at:
kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html

I hope this helps you to get your Z22 back up and running

I installed Palm desktop by access 6.2.2 and now my Z22 sync's with outlook which I don't use? How can I stop this and get my Z22 to talk to my palm diary on my pc which I use?

You can always UN-install the software, and re-install the software that you do use. I have some links on software, and user comments on how to re-arrange things to get data to sync. Since I do not SYNC myself, I can only repeat what others are saying, but, chances are you can use the information to help.
My page on the Z22 is at:
kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html
I hope the links help you to get up and running again!

Recover lost calendar events on a Palm z22

Hi suzbt:
JOY's answer, that you try to do a SYSTEM RESTORE on your Computer to get the data back is a really good one, that I did not think of! All manual instructions, and USER instructions on doing a SYNC with the Palm Z22, REPEAT : 1/ Always have a back up of the hard data 2/ Always check all transferred DATA on a SYNC, "Even if it states 'transfer Successful'", 3/ Even, if necessary, write down the data, ...
There are a few software programs to identify FILE problems on the Z22, listed on my web page:

http://kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html

and ways to recover corrupt data, but these are getting more and more difficult to find and use...

User comments on the SYNC indicate that any SYNC is a risky procedure, and backups and re-checking all data is necessary at all times.

I hope that the information on my web site comes in useful in keeping the Palm Z22 up and running!

good luck

Touch screen on Palm Z22 does not respond

The Data on your Z22 is rock-solid safe, but unlike the answer that states to do a RESET- DO NOT ! The touch screen problem has nothing to do with resetting, it is a failure of the soft plastic top layer of the touch screen. There is a tiny, remote possibility that the logic circuits are out of sync and the touchscreen really is mixed up in a software state, and a SOFT RESET may reset the touch screen, but this is almost unheard of ( but does happen).
I have an entire page on the Z22 and how to maintain, repair and interface it. It is at:
kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html

I would suggest trying a few tricks listed on my web page, and see if you can get the screen to work again. It is IMPERATIVE to get a hard plastic cover over the screen to keep it working!

Please read over the information on the Z22 page.

Palm z22 USB won't stay connected

Hi, I also had the same problem exactly the way you described it. What worked for me is putting in the original installation cd that came with the palm. Run the installation and I think the computer will recognize the palm and stay connected. Hope it works.

Can I hot sync z22 palm without the touchscreen?

The data on your old Z22 is very likely very secure, and the touch screen problem is very common - there are a few tricks to get the touch screen working long enough to transfer the data.
I have a web page entirely for maintaining, repairing, and interfacing your Z22 at:
kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html

You can try these tricks, or just replace the screen for $9 U.S., since the screen only needs you take the unit apart and flip open a connector lock ...

I would strongly advise getting a solid plastic cover over your new Z22, since this is the key to keeping the screen working...

hope the information is of help to you
