Did you wire the speakers in series or parallel? 4 ohm speakers in parallel actually come out to equal 2 ohms wich most amps would see as a short causing protection issues. 4 ohm speakers in series equals 8 ohms which should be fine for your amp. been there : expert-tech / SAM
Make sure you have good solid connections on your power and ground wires. Make sure the ground wire is touching bare metal if it is grounded to the chassis.
how big is the amp an if it over a 1000watt then it could be ur power wire .but does it do it then its down on low if it does then check ur speaker wires they could be touching .if it dont shut off then it is more then likly ur power wires not big enuf .i have a 4400watt amp an i have 0g wire ..
Could be a number of things: Low power to amp, bad ground connection, faulty amp, or even speaker being overloaded or wired wrong. Check your connections and the wattage of the amp and speakers.
If the amp was hot, it probably has a serious problem. You should have it checked out by a qualified tech. Don't continue to use it. More serious damage could occur.
probably your power is too short, increase your gauge wire, and your ground wire of the amplifier has to be shortly as possible, and the positive has to be enough to support peak power, you can also put a big capacitor on the positive wire to give some more power while the bass peak.
Does it shut off for a couple of minutes or a couple of seconds?
Is the amp hot when it shuts off?
Are you sure you have the speakers wired to an acceptable ohm load for the amp?
Have you measured the voltage at the amp (across the B+ and ground terminals) to make sure it's not dropping too low on hard bass notes?
