Good day sir/ma'am hi, its a reality that not all CD players are alike, the burning of the CD which can't be read by other CD players can be caused by the following:

  1. quality of CDR and CDRW.
  2. lens compatibility.
  3. speed of writting and rewritting.
  4. scratches and marks on the CD.
  5. playback circuit that reads the CD.
  6. DIstance of the lens.
  7. manufacturers use different formats and methods of burning. and alot more.
For as long as the CD you burn on your masterlink can be played on itself, your fine. You can try burning the CD on the PC for more compatibility on the CD player.

Masterlink shut down during a CD playback and won't power up at all. No lights, no sound, nothing.

You need a competent tech to look at the possibility that the power supply has failed - seems the most likely explanation

Disc failure while to burn a CD on the Alesis Masterlink ML-9600

The Alesis fitted with a standard computer CD drive, there's an online list somewhere of compatible drives. Take the lid off, unscrew the current drive, and replace. It sounds like the drive is faulty. Online instructions all over the place on how to replace these drives in PCs - it's no different in the Alesis

Hello,my masterlink records red book cds just fine. with or without dsp on tracks. my problem is when i am burning cd-24, they sometimes burn and finilize without dsp. however with dsp on tracks i get cd...

All I can offer is that something about your DSP is stretching the parameters of the Masterlink too far. What DSP are you applying? Is it subtle DSP, or gross manipulation?

I cant make recordings on my masterlink every time a record a few songs and try to burn a red book cd from the hard drive it says songs less than 5 seconds

Look at all the tracks in the playlist that you're trying to burn to CD - is there a track that you've perhaps forgotten about still in the playlist, one of less than 5 seconds?
When you press Create CD, you're telling the Alesis to create a CD from the WHOLE of the current playlist, not just the track you recorded most recently ...

Hi,
It sounds like you haven't followed the last step to the burning procedure. All you need to do once you've completed burning your disc is to Finalize the disc. Read below why you need to finalize as well as the steps to follow in order to finalize the disc.
Hope this helps ;)
How to Finalize Finalizing is writing the TOC (table of contents) on a disc so a CD player can recognize the number of tracks, the total time for each track, and their location on the disc. A recorded disc must be finalized to playback on a standard CD player. Once finalized a CD-R disc can be played on CD players that support CD-R playback. CD-RW discs can only be played on CD players that support CD-RW playback. Consult your CD player owner's manual to confirm supported formats. Finalizing is necessary to: • be able to play a recorded CD-R or CD-RW disc on a CD player • prevent further recording on a disc • avoid erasing tracks on a CD-RW disc • record text information onto a disc you record Notes: • A finalized CD-R disc can never be recorded onto again. • A finalized CD-RW disc can be unfinalized for more recording. • The CDR300 can play back unfinalized CD-R or CD-RW discs. • SYNC REC+FINAL mode automatically finalizes.
Here are the steps in order to Finalize your disk
1 Push Stop. The display shows the number of tracks and their total playing time. 2 Push FINALIZE. FINALIZE is displayed for about 3 seconds.

Downloading my music and then burning to a cd

Have you read the section of manual relating to 'Importing CDs' ?

Select a playlist, press 'playlist edit' - press HD/CD - insert CD, close drawer. Once Alesis has scanned disc, press 'track move' - display should read Move CDTrk -> Trknn where 'nn' is the next available track in playlist. Press Cursor Left to place cursor under CDTrk, press Down/No, and display should read Move CD->Playlist. If you now hit Yes it will copy all CD tracks to the active playlist (it'll prompt if the playlist isn#'t empty to make sure you want to add the CD to the tracks already in the playlist).

Once they are copied to the playlist, you can move them around if required, DSP them, then burn that playlist to a blank CD
