My tv just got a blue line going down the right side 3 inches in the screen :(
The display screen is made of a matrix of elements connected to cables
along the side and top. On your unit, some of these many, tiny
connections are making contact intermittantly thus losing the elements
in that area. These contacts are held in place with just pressure and
if that is disturbed, you lose that line of elements. Try squeezing the
cabinet of the TV on the outside at the top in the area of the loss and
see if that makes a difference. May have to go inside and see if the
contact assembly is disturbed or warped or something.

Got two blue lines going down the left side of tv screen
Have just purchased Samsung LA32R81BD have thin blue vertical line a third into the left hand side of the screen. A pity no support on a sunday or public holiday! Tried the squeeze theory without joy. Will attempt swap and see what excuses the dealer has? Thanx for advice fixya!

It could be 1 of 4 things:
1. One of the ribbon cables has worked itself loose (Simple Fix)
2. One of the assembly boards maybe faulty
3. The driver board which feeds the panel maybe faulty
4. The panel is faulty
The driver board in the UK costs approx £70 and approx £35-70 to fit it if this is the fault.
All other parts are between £80-160 and approx £35-70 to fit it if this is the fault.
The panel will cost approx 50-75% of what the TV was worth when you bought it - "Repair versus Replacement"

Having the same EXACT problem on my Samsung LN-S2651D. Samsung gave me a few things to try, then disappeared from further assistance. Wonder if there's a known defect?
Vertical blue lines 5+ inches long appearing on both right and left side of Samsung 40" screen. This tv is only just over a year old. What a piece of junk.
Same problem: New 40" Samsung LCD. Have 3 " blue line (vertical). Samsung sending person out after a long call to tech support. Will post if learn anything
