Every 2nd wash or so our Hotpoint Aquarius WF220 doesn't fully empty and stalls prior to the rinse and spin cycles with the rinse hold, mini load and on/off button flashing. One day it will be fine and then the next the problem will occur. Any help would be great!

My guess is heating element, if its broke it wont heat water and because the thermostat does not detect hot water the machine does not move onto next step. i suspect you will not be able to do a prewash.
Part cost ££20 to £30
My machine has same problem but im struggling to pull out the eliment.
The lights are set off by the balance sensors. And if your balance sensors are stopping it from spinning than you first have to make sure the washer is level. You could have bad Shocks and a bad electronic control board,.
check the cold water supply, either from the mains pipe, there is no water getting into the machine, if water is there up to the machine check the solenoid for circuit, to do this unplug from electric, remove lid, and test the two wires on relevant solenoid, no circuit means faulty solenoid, (test with the 2 wires removed from solenoid) take care note position of wires to put back properly
