Converting VHS to DVD

I want to convert VHS to a DVD. I have a VHS that includes the sonagram of my baby and want to send it to my parents in another state, but they only have a DVD player. I have the Emerson EWD2203 VHS/DVD combo. Is it possible to record the information on the VHS to a DVD? If so, can anyone tell me how to do so?

Thank you so much for your help.

For copying VHS content to DVD, you can buy a recorder to do this. Or you could use some burning programs and do it via your computer, such as Leawo DVD Creator for your reference.

All you have to do is buy a vhs to dvd recorder. They sell those everywhere, like costco, walmart, etc. They keep getting cheaper and cheaper...
They will come with a manual with model specific instructions, but usually its pretty easy. The cassette plays and the device records the video onto the dvd.
They also play vhs and dvds too XD.
Here's a good website:

We hope you enjoyed this trip down the wonderfully nostalgic lane of the VHS. If you have some VHS tapes of your own home recordings, make sure you convert them to DVD with a VHS to DVD conversion from Video to DVD.

How to record dvd from vhs

There are some units that can do this, but if you are trying to copy commercially recorded VHS movies to DVD you will have issues. The VHS tapes have copy protection on them and all manufactured hardware to record these have been required by law to support the protection. Thus, you will get poor copy reproduction when copying. If they are home-movie style VHS tapes, no such issues exist. You can either get a unit that has both devices integrated and has copy capability, or you can you a VHS player and send the outputs to a DVD recorder.

PAL to NTSC conversion

This is not a converting unit, it will play the format of the tape inside. To convert the signal you need one of the following:

1) A converting VHS player; they are fairly expensive.
2) A separate video converter (hardware); they run for about $200-$500; just put this between your VCR and the TV.
3) Capture the PAL on your computer using a software like Movie Maker via a Firewire cable. Than convert it to NTSC on your machine using software like Nero... do a search on Google for converting software. Or just watch it on our computer in PAL format, most computers do that... For this step I use a separate camcoder that has a passthrough feature. The VCR connects to it and the camcorder connects to the computer via Firewire.
4) send the PAL tape to a specialized shop for conversion. They normally charge $30-$40 for a regular 2h VHS tape.

IMPORTANT: If attempting to copy copyrighted material the Samsung DVD-VR320 will detect the encoding and will not allow the copy to be made.
