Start laptop then f2 within 1 sec till bios setting not open
go to advance option then sata mode
ATA FOR XP
AHCI FOR WIN 7 , WIN 8 NOT SOLVE

1.) Insert Bootable CD.
2.) if not booting up, go into the Bios and change the bootable device list to list the CD or DVD drive first
3.) Disk should boot, if not then you have a problem with your CD (try another) or the CD/DVD Drive is not working properly.

basicly ive got a brand new hard drive and the copy of xp from dell i get as far as the windows setup screen / setup is loading files / then it get to setup is starting windows then the blue screen of death comes up ive ran harddrive diognostics and it say its passed and all is well also had the same probs on the old drive dell say its somthing in the bios needs changing but want 80 dollar to tell me what im fixing this pc for a mate so dont want to pay dell 80 quid
done all that allready so anything else u can think off.the disc is good i have a few coppys and the same happens with all of them dell think thay know what it is but want 80 quid to tell me how to change some shit in the bios anyone know what i need to change in the bios ive fixed alot of pcs but this one is a bloody nightmare
Need more info. Do you have Install CD? Is Restore CD given with Dell or new Store bought XP?What is furthest you have gotten on the install? Did the CD boot when you put it in the drive? Are you upgrading from W2K or is this a fresh install on a new Hard Drive?Did this computer ever work before? on what OS?
